About the Role
As a General Snow Removal Labourer with Western Landscape, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our clients’ properties safe and accessible during the winter season. Reliability, a strong work ethic, and teamwork are key to success in this position. As with all roles at Western Landscape, maintaining a secure and healthy work environment is our top priority.
This is an on-call, weather-dependent position. The successful candidate must be ready and willing to work when snow falls — including weekends and holidays if needed. Days off will vary based on weather conditions and may not occur consecutively. While daily hours fluctuate, a minimum average of 40 hours per week can be expected during peak season.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual snow removal, including shovelling and ice chipping
- Operation of backpack blowers and snow blowers
- Application of ice melt and traction materials
- General shop work, including clean-up and light equipment maintenance as required
- Compliance with all safety protocols and operational standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of snow removal experience preferred (not mandatory)
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices
- Experience operating snow removal or landscaping machinery considered an asset
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Physically fit with the ability to work extended or irregular hours
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing schedules and operational needs
- Strong safety-first mindset

- Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude at all times
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures without exception
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure timely completion of work
Working Conditions
- Season: November 1 – April 30
- On-Call Hours:
- Monday–Friday: typically 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (subject to snowfall)
- Saturday–Sunday: typically 7:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (subject to snowfall)
- Overnight shifts may occur during major snow events
Days Off: Determined by weather conditions NOTE: Candidate's are responsible to wear the correct PPE to protect themselves against the elements.
PPE include:
- Snow Boots
- Snow apparel to withstand temperatures up to -50 degree Celsius
- Gloves
- Tuques
Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Seasonal Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
