About the Role The Student, CPA Program is a dynamic role designed for an ambitious professional looking to build a solid foundation in accounting and finance across a large-scale, complex operating platform.
CPA students represent the future of our organization and our next generation of leaders. We are looking for an analytical, curious, and proactive individual who takes genuine ownership, embraces complex problem-solving, and brings a continuous-improvement mindset to every challenge. In this role, you will gain hands-on exposure to diverse accounting functions, drive modern workflow automation, and collaborate directly with experienced leaders.
Continuing after graduation from university, you will be backed by comprehensive CPA practical experience support, structured mentorship, and dedicated career development resources with one of the Big 4 firms to ensure you thrive both in your designation journey and your long-term leadership trajectory.

Participating Teams
We are looking for third-year students (only)
committed to pursuing their CPA designation in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Your application will automatically be considered for all the positions:
- Financial Reporting & Lender Relations – Gain exposure in preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory and financing agreement compliance, and maintaining relationships with lenders, tax-equity partners, and joint-venture partners. Help coordinate and facilitate the execution of over 125 annual audits across various portfolio companies and ensure accurate presentation and disclosure in accordance with accounting standards.
- Consolidations – Gain direct exposure to some of Brookfield Renewable’s most unique and exciting new transactions by working directly with Brookfield’s 20 platforms and portfolio companies, through the review of global asset acquisitions, dispositions, financings, etc. as part of the analysis of the consolidated financial results.
- Accounting – Gain exposure to the world of accounting transactions and implementation of accounting policies relating to our North American portfolios of hydroelectric, wind, utility-scale solar operating projects, fuel cell storage and development projects.
- Taxation – Gain exposure to Brookfield Renewable’s global tax function by supporting tax compliance, reporting, planning, and transaction-related matters across the business. Work alongside the tax team to understand the tax considerations of operating and investing across multiple jurisdictions, while assisting with analysis, documentation, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Financial Planning & Analysis – Gain exposure to preparing analyses of key performance indicators specific to the renewable energy industry. Participate in the preparation of business forecasts and annual budgets that support decision making and strategic planning.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Working towards completing an undergraduate degree and pre-requisites to enter the CPA Professional Education Program. You also have a strong interest in pursuing a CPA designation in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative through relevant classes and project work, past employment, case competitions, or volunteer, extra-curricular activities and community involvement
- Excellent business acumen,
verbal communication (both one-on-one and in small groups) and written communication skills which include the ability to work effectively in a team workplace and develop business relationships with partners and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask with grace and consistency
- Understanding and willingness to embrace Brookfield Renewable’s core values
