ABOUT CALM COURAGE CO.

Calm Courage Co. is a Canadian startup creating an interactive children’s app focused on confidence, emotional awareness, social skills, resilience, and emotional learning.

We are looking for a student developer who wants hands-on experience working on a real startup product and being part of the development process as we prepare for launch and continue building the product beyond Version 1.

This is an chance to work on a real mobile application, collaborate with a startup team, contribute ideas, solve technical problems, and gain practical development experience that can be added to your professional portfolio.

We are specifically looking for someone who is interested in an unpaid student placement, co-op, academic placement, or approved hands-on learning opportunity.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Student Developer, you may work on areas such as:

Mobile app development

React Native

Firebase

User authentication and account functionality

Child profiles and parent accounts

Interactive activities and learning experiences

Confidence Quest features

Rewards, stars, gems, and badges

Emotion-based interactive activities

Progress tracking

Testing and troubleshooting

Bug fixing





App performance iOS and Android preparation

App Store and Google Play deployment

Future features and product improvements

Technical documentation and development processes The app already has an established product concept, designs, content, and development work. You will be joining an active project and contributing to its continued development, testing, launch preparation, and future growth.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You don’t need to know everything.

We are looking for a student who is:

Currently studying software development, computer science, mobile development, web development, or a related field

Interested in gaining real-world development experience

Comfortable learning new technologies

Able to troubleshoot and solve problems independently

Comfortable asking questions when needed

Interested in contributing ideas rather than simply completing assigned tasks

Reliable and able to communicate progress

Interested in being part of an early-stage startup

Experience with React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, Firebase, Git/GitHub, iOS, or Android development is an asset.

SCHEDULE

This is a flexible student placement.

You are responsible for communicating your availability and the days/hours you are able to contribute.

There is no requirement for a traditional Monday–Friday work schedule.
