Adept Vegetation Management Inc. is looking for a reliable and safety-minded Traffic Control Person (TCP) to join our team on Vancouver Island.

Adept has been providing utility line clearing and tree removal services since 2002. We work under multi-year contracts with BC Hydro and provide local work for our crews.

Job Duties

- Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around active work sites to keep workers, motorists and the public safe
- Set up, maintain and remove traffic control signs, cones and other traffic control equipment in accordance with the traffic management plan
- Use traffic control paddles, flashing wands and other equipment as required
- Communicate clearly and professionally with motorists, pedestrians and coworkers
- Follow all traffic control procedures, company safety policies and applicable regulations
- Wear required PPE and clothing appropriate for changing weather conditions
- Maintain awareness of hazards around active utility and vegetation management work sites
- When traffic control duties are not required, assist the crew with general labour and other work as directed
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while representing Adept at work sites

Qualifications

Required:

- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license or higher
- Current BCCSA Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work safely outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety




- Ability to work as part of a crew

Preferred / Assets:

- Previous traffic control experience
- Experience working around construction, utility or vegetation management crews
- Additional traffic control or safety-related training would be an asset
- Experience preparing Traffic Control Plans and traffic control layouts in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure requirements and the Traffic Management Manual for Work on Roadways would be an asset

Employment

- Full-time or part-time positions available
- Monday to Friday
- 8-hour shifts for full-time schedules
- Some weekend work may be required
- Overtime may be available

Compensation

- $24.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
