Woodlands Manager

Porcupine Wood Products, a sustainable integrated forest company located in the West Kootenays of BC, is accepting applications for a Woodlands Manager. This is a permanent full time position.

This is a leadership position which would report directly to the President.

The Woodlands Manager will support managing sustainable harvests across a range of tenures along with managing an existing skilled woodlands staff. This position will require organizational, management and communications skills, along with a solid base of business sense. Candidates are required to be a designated Registered Professional Forester, in good standing with the association of Forest professionals of BC.

Responsibilities

- Operations Management, oversee all aspects of planning, road building, harvesting, and silviculture, which includes contract negotiations, safety and First Nations relations over 3 tenures with a combined AAC of approximately 60,000 m3’s located in the Kootenay Lake and Arrow operating areas.
- Manage,



evaluate and recruit a skilled, dedicated woodlands staff.

Qualifications

- Solid organizational skills with ability to multi-task competing priorities.

- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in similar role with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Experience engaging with Indigenous nations and communities
- Supervision experience in harvesting and/or road building operations
- Experience in contract/rate negotiations.
- Strong problem solving skills.

- Positive attitude
- Candidate is expected to reside in Castlegar, Nelson, Salmo, Kaslo, areas of the West Kootenay.

We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package. Salary range is $130,000 to $150,000/annum based on experience and education levels. Pay: $130,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
