Miski Brewing Company is a growing craft brewery based in Barrie, Ontario, specializing in gluten‑free beer made with quinoa and other alternative grains. We focus on producing high-quality, great-tasting beer using carefully selected ingredients and specialized brewing processes. Our brewery operates in a dedicated gluten‑free production environment and produces a growing range of beers for retail, restaurants, and other distribution channels.

Role Description

Miski Brewing Company is seeking a full‑time Brewer with previous hands‑on commercial brewery experience to join our production team in Barrie, Ontario. This is not an entry‑level brewing position.

The successful candidate must have practical experience working in a commercial brewery and be comfortable participating directly in brewing, fermentation, cellar operations, cleaning and sanitation, transfers, filtration, packaging, and general production activities. Working closely with the Lead Brewer, the Brewer will support all stages of beer production, from preparation of raw materials through brewing, fermentation, conditioning, filtration, packaging and cleaning.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out commercial brew days, including ingredient preparation, mashing, lautering/filtration, boiling, hop additions, wort transfer, and related cleaning procedures.
- Monitor and manage fermentation, including gravity and temperature readings, and maintain accurate production records.
- Perform beer transfers between fermenters, conditioning tanks and bright beer tanks.
- Carry out filtration, carbonation, and preparation of beer for packaging.
- Perform CIP, cleaning, and sanitation of tanks, hoses, pumps, fittings, brewhouse equipment and production areas.
- Follow brewery SOPs, quality‑control procedures, food‑safety requirements,



and established production standards.
- Support yeast handling and fermentation management as required.
- Safely operate pumps, hoses, valves, fittings and other brewery production equipment.
- Participate in canning, kegging, labeling and packaging operations as required.
- Maintain accurate batch records, production logs, inventory information and related documentation.
- Monitor product quality throughout production and promptly identify and report any process or quality concerns.
- Work with the Head Brewer on recipe development, production trials, troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe brewery production environment.

Required Qualifications

- Previous hands‑on experience working in a commercial brewery is required.
- Practical experience with commercial brewing and/or cellar operations.
- Understanding of the basic stages of beer production, including brewing, fermentation, conditioning, transfers and packaging.
- Experience performing CIP, cleaning and sanitation in a brewery or beverage‑production environment.
- Ability to take and record gravity, temperature and other routine production measurements.
- Familiarity with fermenters, bright beer tanks, pumps, hoses, valves and related brewery equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established recipes, procedures and production records.




- Ability to work independently when required and take direction from the Lead Brewer.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, food safety and product quality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding brewery work, including standing for extended periods, working in wet production areas, climbing stairs or platforms and safely lifting and moving brewery materials and equipment.
- Reliable, organized and comfortable working in a small production team.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada or be eligible to obtain a Canadian work permit.

Homebrewing experience alone is not considered sufficient for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

- Minimum 1 year of hands‑on commercial brewery experience required; 2+ years preferred.
- Formal brewing education, fermentation science training, recognized brewing certification or proven equivalent hands‑on commercial brewing experience.
- Experience with fermentation management, yeast handling, filtration, carbonation or packaging.
- Experience working with alternative grains, gluten‑free brewing or non‑traditional brewing ingredients is an asset but not required.
- Experience with canning or packaging equipment is an asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety or brewery quality‑control procedures is an asset.

Location

This is a full‑time, on‑site position in Barrie, Ontario.
