Join UBC Okanagan as a Research Associate driving innovative projects in fire ecology. Collaborate with diverse teams on fire behaviour and climate research in a full time role.

You will support the Fire Ecology and Remote Sensing Lab spearheaded by Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais. The position requires expertise in climate modelling, remote sensing, and machine learning, essential for enhancing ecological restoration initiatives. You will also engage in fieldwork across Canada and may travel internationally based on research needs.

Key Responsibilities: • Implement fire behaviour and fire-weather modelling • Interpret remote sensing datasets for research inquiries • Adapt machine learning approaches for predictions • Support grant applications and research proposals • Collaborate with external partners on research projects

Requirements: • PhD in wildfire science, geography, or similar • Proven experience in fire behaviour modelling tools • Familiarity with climate downscaling methods • Skills in remote sensing applications • Record of peer-reviewed research publications
