Role Summary We are seeking an Intermediate Trainer to support government-wide training and outreach initiatives for the Government of Alberta's 1GX Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. The successful candidate will lead learning needs and audience analysis, develop role-based learning strategies, design and deliver instructor‑led, virtual, e‑learning, multimedia, digital adoption, and performance‑support solutions, and evaluate training effectiveness. This role requires strong instructional design, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, learning evaluation, and project coordination skills. Experience with ERP systems and digital adoption platforms is highly desirable.

Project Overview The 1GX Centre Of Excellence (CoE) Supports The Government Of Alberta's Enterprise ERP Solution, 1GX, Which Enables Key Business Functions Including

Reporting to the Manager, 1GX Business Excellence – Communications, OCM, and Training, the Trainer will support government-wide 1GX training for project and operational initiatives.

The role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to validate requirements, manage competing feedback, coordinate deliverables and risks, and maintain training quality, accessibility, consistency, and currency through established governance processes.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Needs & Audience Analysis

Conduct learning needs assessments to identify training requirements.

Assess target audiences, job roles, work contexts, and business processes.

Define role-based training strategies aligned with business outcomes.

Select appropriate delivery approaches, including:

Instructor‑led training

Virtual training

Blended learning

Self‑paced learning

Establish appropriate measures to evaluate training success.

Ensure learning solutions are practical, relevant, and support effective system adoption.

Learning Solution Design & Development

Design, develop, implement, and maintain end‑to‑end learning solutions.

Create training materials for diverse technical and non‑technical audiences.

Develop:

Instructor‑led training

Virtual training

E‑learning modules

Videos

Multimedia content

Digital adoption resources

Job aids

Quick reference guides

Performance‑support materials

Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.

Incorporate accessibility standards and user‑centred design practices.

Create clear, inclusive, engaging, and effective learning experiences.

Training Facilitation

Facilitate instructor‑led and virtual training sessions.

Train both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Translate complex system functionality and business processes into plain language.

Use demonstrations, activities, practical workflows, and learner‑engagement techniques.

Support effective adoption and understanding of 1GX processes and functionality.





Stakeholder & SME Collaboration

Partner with program leadership, business process owners, subject‑matter experts, vendors, and the 1GX Change Network.

Gather and validate learning requirements.

Facilitate reviews and reconcile competing stakeholder feedback.

Confirm training readiness and align delivery timelines.

Maintain strong working relationships with technical and business stakeholders.

Training Initiative & Deliverable Management

Manage multiple training initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.

Develop work plans and prioritize activities.

Manage dependencies and identify potential risks.

Track progress and provide regular status reporting.

Coordinate stakeholder communications.

Ensure training deliverables are completed within established timelines and quality standards.

Training Governance & Quality Assurance

Establish and follow training governance processes.

Manage training intake and prioritization.

Coordinate review and approval cycles.

Perform quality assurance activities.

Maintain version control and content governance.Conduct accessibility reviews.

Maintain and update training materials to ensure accuracy and currency.

Ensure training products comply with established Government of Alberta policies and standards.

Training Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Evaluate learning effectiveness using:

Learner feedback

Assessments

Performance measures

Adoption indicators

Other relevant evaluation data

Analyze training results and identify improvement opportunities.

Implement continuous improvements to learning solutions.

Use performance and adoption insights to enhance learner outcomes.

Digital, Multimedia & AI‑Enabled Tools

Use approved digital adoption and embedded guidance technologies.

Develop contextual support and in‑application performance resources.

Use multimedia and content‑development tools to improve learning experiences.

Use collaboration and AI‑enabled tools to support:

Instructional design

Learning analysis

Content development

Learner support

Stakeholder engagement

Reporting

Validate AI‑generated outputs for accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and compliance with Government of Alberta policies and standards.

Coaching & Mentorship

Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to junior trainers and contributors.

Promote consistent training delivery.

Encourage strong instructional design practices.

Support the development of high‑quality learning products.

Share knowledge and best practices across training initiatives.

Must-Have Experience

Experience delivering instructor‑led and virtual training to diverse technical and non‑technical audiences.

Ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts using plain language, demonstrations, activities, and learner‑engagement techniques.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience designing or configuring digital adoption solutions, embedded guidance, walkthroughs, contextual support, or in‑application performance support using WalkMe or a comparable platform.

Experience developing accessible e-learning, instructional videos, audio, or multimedia content using:

Comparable products

Experience gathering requirements, facilitating reviews, reconciling competing feedback, and working with SMEs.
