Join Covenant House Vancouver as a Trauma-Informed Youth Worker, dedicated to supporting homeless and at-risk young people. This role involves overnight shifts focusing on building trust and providing essential services.
You will assist youth aged 16-24 as they navigate complex trauma and homelessness challenges. Your work includes developing supportive relationships, providing crisis intervention, and promoting life skills needed for independent living. This position is vital for fostering resilience among the youth in our care while adhering to harm reduction principles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome youth and assess their unique needs
• Facilitate introductions to services and program orientation
• Administer first aid, documenting incidents and client notes
• Support youth through appointments and crises
• Maintain confidentiality and manage youth program events
Requirements:
• Social service diploma or degree with relevant experience
• At least one year in a low barrier service setting
• Knowledge of youth homelessness and mental health issues
• Skills in crisis intervention and First Aid
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift materials
