Come join our team to be a part of this amazing opportunity!Reporting directly to the Environmental Compliance Superintendent or their delegate, the Environmental Monitor is primarily responsible for compliance inspections, environmental monitoring programs and supporting site reporting requirements. A large majority of time spent in this position will be outdoors sometimes in inclement weather conditions.Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Environmental Monitoring & Field SupportConduct environmental monitoring during construction activitiesSupport water quality and in-stream monitoring programsAssist with terrestrial and aquatic field programs, including bird surveys, vegetation assessments, and wildlife monitoringAssist scientific specialists with field data collection and program executionErosion and Sediment Control (ESC)Support the installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measuresMonitor and report on the effectiveness of ESC implementationSampling & Data ManagementCollect environmental samples in accordance with established protocolsProcess, pack,



and ship samples to laboratories as requiredMaintain accurate field notes and documentationEnter field and laboratory data into the environmental databaseEnvironmental Compliance & Site SupportAssist with spill prevention and spill response activitiesSupport recycling, waste sorting, and wastewater management programsEnsure environmental commitments and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies are adhered to in all site activitiesTeam & Operational SupportInteract and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals, engineers, and contractorsProvide logistical support to the team and perform other related duties as requiredAdditional ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties as assigned by the employer.The Ideal CandidateEducation / Qualifications:Training in construction or environmental monitoring programs or related discipline is considered an assetValid Level 1 First Aid Certificate is an assetValid Class 5 LicenseExperience / SkillsComputer skills are considered an asset (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, IsoMetris, Eqwin)Must be very safety conscious, reliable, self-starter and a team playerAbility to take clear, concise, and defensible field notesPrevious experience with environmental monitoring/sampling is highly desiredExperience with wilderness or outdoor activities is an assetExperience with ATV, GPS,



and snowmobile operating procedures are all highly desiredStrong written and verbal communication skillsEffective team player who can jump in wherever is neededStrong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilitiesHighly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with othersWork Location & ConditionsThis is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.All Applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada. Priority hiring consideration will be given to Indigenous Nations members who reside within the territories our projects are located.CompensationThe expected hourly range for this position is CA$30-35/hr, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia.
