Help build the financial foundation for a growing Canadian apparel business.
For more than 140 years, Caulfeild Apparel Group has built a reputation for excellence in the Canadian apparel industry. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an Accounts Receivable Manager to take ownership of our accounts receivable and credit functions and play an important role in supporting the financial health of the business.
If you're someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, building strong customer relationships and finding better ways to get things done, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a hands-on role with broad responsibility across accounts receivable, collections, credit, customer relationships, reporting, systems and process improvement. You'll work closely with our CFO and teams across the business, while managing relationships with customers ranging from independent retailers to major national accounts.
You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing company where initiative, sound judgment and the ability to make decisions matter.
What You'll Do
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day AR and credit function, ensuring accounts are managed effectively, issues are resolved quickly, and the business has clear visibility into its receivables.
You'll
- Manage day-to-day accounts receivable, including collections, payment processing, account reconciliations and customer inquiries.
- Monitor outstanding balances and proactively manage overdue accounts.
- Manage customer accounts, including national retail customers, and support reconciliations, deductions, chargebacks and vendor compliance issues.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies, working with customers and internal teams to determine the appropriate resolution.
- Review customer credit applications, establish and monitor credit limits, and assess credit risk.
- Review and approve customer orders in accordance with established credit policies.
- Make informed decisions on account issues, credit and collections, knowing when an issue can be resolved independently and when it requires escalation.
- Manage collections and payment processing for independent customers while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Support e-commerce financial processes,
including Shopify and PayPal.
- Prepare weekly and monthly AR reporting and provide visibility into receivables, collections and outstanding issues.
- Support the administration of commissions, rebates and freight credits.
- Act as a super user for relevant financial and business systems, including HighRadius.
- Identify opportunities to improve, simplify and automate AR processes and systems.
- Support system troubleshooting, administration and training as required.
- Support credit insurance and audit requirements.
- This is a hands-on role for someone who takes ownership and is comfortable making decisions. You'll need to assess situations, use good judgment and move issues forward.
What You'll Bring
- 2–5 years of experience in accounts receivable, credit and/or collections.
- Experience in apparel, consumer products, retail or wholesale is preferred.
- Experience working with major retail customers such as Walmart is preferred.
- Experience with collections, account reconciliations, deductions, chargebacks and customer account management.
- Experience working with ERP or financial systems; experience as a systems super user is an asset.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
- Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- The confidence and judgment to make decisions, resolve issues independently and take accountability for the outcome.
- A high degree of integrity, discretion and ownership.
The Person We're Looking For You're someone who likes to figure things out.
You don't need to have seen every situation before, but you're confident assessing a problem, gathering the information you need and making a thoughtful decision.
You know when you can resolve something yourself and when you need to involve others.
You're comfortable having a firm conversation about an overdue account while maintaining a positive customer relationship. You can work independently, but you're also comfortable collaborating with others when an issue crosses functions or requires additional perspective.
You pay attention to the details, follow things through and take responsibility for getting to a resolution.
And when you see an opportunity to improve the way something is done, you don't simply point it out—you look for a solution.
Most importantly, you're proactive, practical and accountable. You bring sound judgment to your work, aren't afraid to make decisions, and take pride in doing things accurately and well.
