Join Bissell Centre as a Cultural Support Worker focusing on Indigenous engagement. This role empowers participants to embrace their cultural identity through guidance and workshops.
As part of the Indigenous Engagement team at Bissell Centre, you will play a pivotal role in helping participants navigate their connection to Indigenous culture. Your responsibilities will involve emotional support, organizing workshops, and facilitating opportunities for participants to engage with their roots positively. This position reinforces our commitment to tackle poverty in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Empower participants to engage with Indigenous culture
• Provide access to culturally relevant resources and materials
• Facilitate bridging connections to home nations
• Coordinate traditional ceremonies and Elder teachings
• Represent the program in partnerships and collaborations
Requirements:
• Degree or Diploma in Native Studies preferred
• At least 2 years of relevant experience
• Solid knowledge of local Indigenous cultures
• Familiarity with Indigenous languages is an asset
• Lived experience is beneficial
