We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator who wants to go beyond the conventional estimating role. Strong estimating experience is essential, while experience or knowledge in accounting, cost analysis, finance, or financial analysis is considered a significant asset.

The successful candidate will be involved in reviewing plans and specifications, quantity takeoffs, labour, equipment and material costing, supplier and subcontractor pricing, construction methods, budgeting, risk analysis, and complete project estimates.

However, this role will not be limited to what DALAX is building today.

As the organization evolves, the estimator may also participate in the analysis of real estate development projects, private investment opportunities, new business ventures, partnerships, and other projects, both in Quebec and eventually in other markets.

Some assignments may even extend outside the traditional construction and landscaping sectors. The role may involve researching unfamiliar industries, structuring information, evaluating costs and resources, analyzing financial and operational scenarios, identifying risks, and assessing the feasibility and potential of new opportunities.

Over time, certain opportunities may lead to new divisions, new business branches, or separate companies. For the right person, a particular expertise or ability to understand and develop a sector could eventually lead to greater responsibilities or even a new business opportunity within the organization.

Qualifications

- Significant experience in project estimating within construction, civil engineering, excavation, industrial construction, or a related sector.
- Ability to prepare detailed estimates and complete project budgets.
- Experience or education in accounting, finance, cost analysis, financial analysis, or business analysis is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of costs, budgets, margins, profitability, and project risks.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, tender documents, and contracts.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and analytical tools.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving,



and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to analyze unfamiliar projects, industries, or business opportunities.
- Robust communication, negotiation, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Education in engineering, construction management, estimating, accounting, finance, business, or a related field is an asset.
- Project management or business development experience is also an asset.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec.

Nous recherchons un Estimateur principal expérimenté qui souhaite aller au-delà du rôle conventionnel d’estimation. Une solide expérience en estimation est essentielle, tandis qu’une expérience ou des connaissances en comptabilité, analyse de coûts, finance ou analyse financière constituent un atout important.

La personne participera notamment à l’analyse des plans et devis, aux relevés de quantités, à l’évaluation de la main-d’œuvre, de la machinerie et des matériaux, à la recherche de prix auprès des fournisseurs et sous-traitants, à l’analyse des méthodes d’exécution, à la préparation des budgets, à l’identification des risques et à l’élaboration d’estimations complètes.

Cependant, ce poste ne sera pas limité à ce que DALAX construit aujourd’hui.

Avec l’évolution de l’organisation, l’estimateur pourra également participer à l’analyse de projets de développement immobilier,



d’opportunités provenant d’investisseurs privés, de nouvelles entreprises, de partenariats et d’autres projets, au Québec et éventuellement dans d’autres marchés.

Certains mandats pourront même se situer à l’extérieur des secteurs traditionnels de la construction et de l’aménagement. Le rôle pourra alors comprendre la recherche sur de nouveaux secteurs, la structuration de données, l’évaluation des coûts et des ressources, l’analyse de scénarios financiers et opérationnels, l’identification des risques ainsi que l’évaluation de la faisabilité et du potentiel d’une opportunité.

À plus long terme, certaines occasions pourraient mener au développement de nouvelles divisions, de nouvelles branches d’activité ou d’entreprises distinctes. Pour la bonne personne, une expertise particulière ou une capacité exceptionnelle à comprendre et développer un secteur pourrait éventuellement mener à davantage de responsabilités ou même à une nouvelle avenue d’affaires au sein de l’organisation.

Qualifications

- Expérience significative en estimation dans la construction, le génie civil, l’excavation, la construction industrielle ou un secteur connexe.
- Capacité à préparer des estimations détaillées et des budgets complets.
- Expérience ou formation en comptabilité, finance, analyse de coûts, analyse financière ou analyse d’affaires : atout important.
- Bonne compréhension des coûts, budgets, marges, niveaux de rentabilité et risques de projets.
- Excellente capacité à lire et interpréter les plans, devis, appels d’offres et documents contractuels.
- Maîtrise des logiciels d’estimation, feuilles de calcul et outils d’analyse.
- Excellentes capacités d’analyse, de recherche, de résolution de problèmes et de réflexion critique.
- Capacité à analyser des projets, secteurs ou occasions d’affaires moins familiers.
- Excellentes aptitudes en communication, négociation, organisation et gestion des priorités.
- Formation en génie, gestion de construction, estimation, comptabilité, finance, administration ou domaine connexe : atout.
- Expérience en gestion de projets ou développement des affaires : atout.

Il s’agit d’un poste à temps plein en mode hybride, basé à Ottawa, Ontario, et Gatineau, Québec.
