Job Title: Race Coach
Reports to: Program Head Coach
Wage: Starting at $18.50 and increases based on certification and experience
Part time, Seasonal; Weekends and Holidays
Job Summary
Craigleith runs one of the largest performance ski racing programs in North America. We have a dynamic program with passionate athletes, coaches, and parents with a focus on athletics and coach development from entry level to Provincial, National, and beyond. The Race Coach plays an integral role in the junior race members in guiding and mentoring their athletic abilities, growing them to advance their skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality race programming to advance participants skills and development
- Able to manage, build and maintain ongoing relationships with athletes.
- If assigned to a team, be available for the entire 9 or 10-week program (Saturday and Sunday). Including away races.
- Prepare athletes for future ski racing advancement
- Attend all Sessions and Training seminars that are scheduled
- Work with Mentors to achieve their Certified and Advanced Certified License
- Follow and understand all aspects of the Staff and Training Manual
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed and inform your Supervisor of any conditions that may affect the safety of our guests or fellow employees
- Prepare weekly email updates for team and communicate with team manager.
- Prepare mid-season and year-end reports for all athletes
- Be friendly, courteous, and informative to all guests
Qualifications
- Entry Level CSC
- Level 1 CSIA is recommended
- Employee must keep up to date by following the guidelines of the CSC
- Race experience of at least U16 is recommended
- Time Management and organization is essential
- Possess positive communication skills
- Knowledge of ski racing industry
- Experience working with people of all ages
- Successful applicants who are 18 years of age or older will be required to sign an attestation that they legally eligible to work with minors and individuals of a vulnerable demographic.
Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoor, on-snow setting, weekends, holidays, days and evening shifts.
- Travel to race events
Physical Requirements
- On snow for extended periods, skiing/snowboarding, standing, walking, climbing, setting training courses
