Join our team as an Apiary Technician and become a vital part of our honeybee conservation and apiary management efforts! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining healthy bee colonies, ensuring the safety and productivity of beekeeping operations, and supporting sustainable apiculture practices. Your hands-on work will help promote pollinator health, improve hive productivity, and contribute to environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine inspections of beehives to monitor colony health, identify pests or diseases, and assess honey production.
- Assist with hive maintenance, including cleaning, repairing, and assembling hive components using farm machinery and mechanical tools.
- Handle bees carefully during hive manipulations, ensuring minimal stress to colonies while conducting necessary interventions.
- Conduct heavy lifting of hive boxes, frames, and equipment safely to facilitate hive inspections and relocations.
- Support the installation of new hives and expansion of apiary sites by preparing land and setting up infrastructure with farm machinery.




- Maintain detailed records of hive conditions, treatments administered, and production metrics for ongoing monitoring.
- Follow safety protocols diligently when working with bees, farm machinery, and heavy equipment to prevent injuries.

Requirements

- Demonstrated mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, hive equipment, or similar tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of routine apiary tasks.
- Prior experience or familiarity with Canadian beekeeping practices is required.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in outdoor environments.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills for documenting hive activities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
