Assistant Professor (Teaching Scholar) - Linguistics and Spanish Language

The Department of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Western University, invites applications for a probationary (tenure-track) Teaching Scholar appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Linguistics, with responsibilities in the Spanish language programme.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in phonetics, phonology and other core areas of linguistics - morphology, syntax, semantics and sociolinguistics - together with Spanish language courses. The position also involves curriculum development, the creation of instructional materials, educational leadership in pedagogical innovation, and fostering inclusive, equitable, accessible and engaging learning environments.

- PhD in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Hispanic Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition or a closely related discipline.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- An outstanding record of university teaching, with expertise in phonetics and phonology and in core areas of linguistics.
- Experience with curriculum design, the development of instructional materials and graduate supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centred pedagogy and to inclusive learning.
