Associate Advisor

CI Assante Wealth Management Ltd. | Unified Advisory Group

Location: Cambridge, Ontario

Work arrangement: Hybrid

Compensation: Approximately $80,000-$100,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus, advantages, RRSP matching, and educational support The opportunity An important stage in an advisor's career lies between helping produce advice and truly becoming responsible for delivering it.

That is what this role is designed for.

We are looking for a fully licensed Associate Advisor who is ready to progress from supporting Senior Wealth Advisors toward independently managing client relationships.

You will take significant responsibility for lower-complexity existing families, including preparing their financial-planning work, identifying opportunities, solving client problems, running meetings and coordinating implementation. At the same time, you will work as second chair alongside Senior Wealth Advisors on more sophisticated affluent, high-net-worth and incorporated-business-owner relationships.

The expectation is greater than simply doing more senior support work.

The mindset we want is:

Act and report.

Within established parameters, you should increasingly be able to recognize what needs to happen, exercise professional judgement, take appropriate action and keep the Senior Wealth Advisor informed-rather than seeking approval for every step.

Major financial-planning decisions and material changes to overall portfolio or investment strategy will continue to receive appropriate Senior Advisor oversight.

What you'll do

Manage selected client relationships

You will gradually assume responsibility for much of the ongoing work for lower-complexity existing families.

That means knowing what is happening in their financial lives, preparing for their meetings, following through after meetings, answering questions, identifying planning needs and making sure agreed strategies move forward.

As your capability and judgement grow, you will become increasingly independent in these relationships.

Lead client meetings

You will prepare for and run meetings with selected clients.

You should be able to explain financial-planning concepts clearly, move conversations toward decisions and translate technical work into language clients understand.

For more sophisticated or complex families, you will work alongside a Senior Wealth Advisor as second chair—contributing meaningfully to preparation, planning, meetings and execution rather than simply observing.

Develop and deliver financial-planning advice

You will work across the financial-planning process: gathering and analyzing information, modelling scenarios, identifying opportunities, developing strategies, preparing recommendations, communicating them to clients and coordinating implementation.

You should increasingly be capable of determining what needs attention without waiting for a Senior Advisor to identify every issue first.

For complex matters, you will collaborate with Senior Wealth Advisors and other specialists to develop the appropriate solution.

Handle investments within established parameters

You will discuss investments with clients and can provide instructions for straightforward transactions within established parameters.

You will review portfolios, recognize issues or opportunities and participate in investment-related discussions.

Material changes to a client's overall portfolio construction or investment strategy require appropriate approval.

Coordinate implementation and complex administration

Advisory work does not end when a recommendation is made.

You will make sure agreed actions actually happen.

That can include account opening, more complex processing, documentation, coordination with internal team members and working with external professionals such as accountants, lawyers or insurance specialists.

Part of becoming a strong advisor is knowing what you should personally own and what should be delegated.

What success looks like

Within your first several months, you understand our clients, systems, advice process, investment approach and expectations for client communication.

Within your first year, you can independently manage most of the ongoing work for selected lower-complexity families.

You prepare thoroughly, run effective meetings, identify planning opportunities, answer most client questions, execute agreed actions within your authority and know when an issue requires escalation.

Senior Wealth Advisors should increasingly be able to delegate outcomes to you rather than individual tasks.

On sophisticated relationships, you become an effective second chair who meaningfully contributes to the advice and allows the Senior Advisor to operate at a higher level.

Longer term, you become capable of moving into one of two distinct advisor career paths.

Who will thrive here

You are likely to succeed if you are ready for responsibility but still want to learn.

You are comfortable making decisions, but you also have enough judgement to recognize when something should be escalated.

Clients find you credible and easy to understand.

You can take complex financial issues and explain them simply.

You take ownership when something needs to get done rather than assuming someone else will catch it.

You enjoy working collaboratively and recognize that excellent advice is usually the product of a team rather than one individual.

You are curious enough to continually improve your technical knowledge and humble enough to keep learning as your responsibilities grow.

Qualifications

You will need

- approximately 4-7 years of relevant wealth-management or financial-planning experience; experience is a guideline rather than an inflexible minimum
- the required investment licensing/registration for the responsibilities of the role
- life and health insurance licence
- QAFP or CFP certification
- strong financial-planning knowledge
- demonstrated client-facing communication ability
- sound qualified judgement and the ability to operate with increasing autonomy
- strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Experience working with affluent or high-net-worth families, incorporated business owners or more complex financial-planning circumstances would be particularly valuable. Our team uses Conquest, Snap Projections, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, CapIntel, automation and AI-supported workflows. You do not need to arrive knowing every system, but you should be comfortable learning new technology and interested in making processes better.

Compensation and benefits The expected base salary range is approximately $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience, credentials and demonstrated capability, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.

Our benefits include

- Comprehensive health and dental coverage, with the firm contributing up to $1,000 per year toward premiums
- RRSP matching
- Paid licensing costs
- Paid QAFP/CFP-related costs
- Professional-development support
- Hybrid work

Location and hybrid work Our primary office is in Cambridge, Ontario.

Team members who live within reasonable commuting distance of Cambridge are generally expected to work from the office approximately three days per week.
