Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, in office role in our Vancouver office, with progression to full-time as you take on more files. You will start working alongside our team so you can learn our clients and processes directly.

You will carry your own portfolio of client files and be accountable for keeping them current and reconciled each month. The work includes:

- Recording transactions, journal entries and accruals across multiple client ledgers
- Bank and credit card reconciliations, tied out to the penny
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Full-cycle payroll, including source deductions, remittances and T4s
- GST, PST and WCB filings and remittances
- Month-end and year-end close, and preparing working papers and draft financial statements for review
- Responding to client questions clearly and on time

Qualifications




- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience in Canada, managing multiple client files at the same time in a bookkeeping or accounting firm
- Hands-on experience preparing Canadian GST and BC PST returns and running full-cycle payroll
- Working experience in QuickBooks Online and Sage 50
- Strong Excel skills, including building formulas for reconciliations and reporting
- Sound understanding of month-end cutoff, accruals and Canadian accounting practices (ASPE)
- A careful approach to your own work: you find out why something does not reconcile instead of forcing it
- Clear, professional communication with clients who are not financial specialists
- Ability to work on-site in Vancouver, BC

Assets: experience with dental or medical clients or practice management software such as Dentrix; a diploma or degree in accounting; progress toward a CPA or bookkeeping designation.
