St. Jude’s Academy is a private, IB World School located in Mississauga, Ontario, serving over 800 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are seeking a reliable, energetic, and team-oriented Cafeteria Assistant to support our daily food service operations.

Position Overview The Cafeteria Assistant supports the Lead Cook/Chef to ensure the cafeteria runs smoothy and efficiently each day. This role is primarily focused on assisting the Chef. Responsibilities will include food preparation, packaging, serving, cafeteria setup, cleaning, and providing friendly customer service to students and staff at both of our campuses.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the Lead Cook/Chef with daily food preparation, including washing, chopping, portioning, assembling, and packaging food
- Assist with lunch service for students and staff
- Package and prepare meals for delivery and service
- Serve food to students and staff in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner at both of our campuses
- Operate the cafeteria POS/cash system and process transactions accurately
- Provide strong customer service and respond to student and staff requests in a helpful and professional manner
- Assist with setting up and organizing the cafeteria and food service areas
- Maintain an organized and efficient service area during busy periods
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Clean and sanitize kitchen, cafeteria, and food preparation areas throughout the day
- Assist with inventory organization and restocking supplies as needed
- Follow all public health, food safety, and hygiene regulations




- Work closely with the Chef and cafeteria team to ensure food service runs smoothly
- Assist with closing and preparing the kitchen and cafeteria for the following day
- Perform other cafeteria duties as required

- Able to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the Lead Cook/Chef
- Comfortable working around children and youth in a school environment

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a cafeteria, food service, hospitality, retail, or customer service environment preferred
- Previous POS/cash-handling experience preferred
- Valid Food Handler Certification required
- Solid customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hiring)

Working Hours Monday to Friday, approximately 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
