Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Worker to join our team on a contract basis and assist with the daily operations of our tree nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture, robust physical stamina, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in plant management and nursery operations within a supportive environment.

Contracts start January 4th and range from 6 to 8 months.

Responsibilities
Tree production including planting, potting, grafting, watering, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, staking and tying trees
Shipping trees including digging trees and loading trucks
Operating hand tools and mechanical equipment
Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the nursery area.
Assisting with pest control and disease management to promote healthy plant growth
Monitoring tree health and reporting any issues to supervisors
Performing heavy lifting of plants, soil bags, or equipment as needed

Qualifications




Prior experience or knowledge in horticulture or gardening is preferred but not required
Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic mechanical knowledge is a plus
Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively
Strong physical endurance with the ability to perform heavy lifting regularly
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in an outdoor environment
Willingness to learn recent skills related to nursery operations
Ability to speak Spanish is an asset
Drivers license or any heavy equipment license is an asset

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, have a keen interest in plants, and are eager to contribute to a thriving nursery workplace.

Pay: $18.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week

Ability to commute/relocate
Chilliwack, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
