Trim & Cabinet Carpenter The Trim & Cabinet Carpenter is responsible for installing cabinetry, trim, moldings, custom millwork, and related finish components in residential construction projects. This role requires strong craftsmanship, the ability to read and interpret plans, and a high level of attention to detail to ensure completed work meets both company and industry standards. The position works closely with site foremen, project coordinators, and other trades to complete installations safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Technical Duties
- Install cabinetry, trim, moldings, custom millwork, hardware, and related finish components according to plans and project specifications
- Accurately read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and installation details
- Complete adjustments, modifications, and minor repairs as required to achieve proper fit and finish
- Use appropriate carpentry tools, equipment, and materials to complete assigned work
- Support the installation of specialty or custom components as required
2. Quality & Craftsmanship
- Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship in all installation work
- Ensure completed work meets company quality expectations and industry standards
- Inspect installations for fit, finish, alignment, and overall appearance
- Identify and correct deficiencies before work is considered complete
- Protect finished materials and surrounding areas from damage during installation
3. Workflow & Productivity
- Complete assigned work according to project schedules and deadlines
- Prioritize tasks based on site requirements and direction from the Site Foreman or Project Coordinator
- Work efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Manage assigned work with minimal supervision
- Communicate delays, material concerns, or site conditions that may affect the schedule
4. Site Coordination & Problem-Solving
- Work closely with Site Foremen, Project Coordinators, and other trades to ensure project specifications are met
- Identify design, structural, material,
or installation issues and communicate them promptly
- Assist in resolving site conditions that affect fit, finish, or installation
- Coordinate work with other trades to avoid conflicts and support efficient project completion
5. Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools required for trim and cabinet installation
- Maintain personal tools in protected and working condition
- Handle cabinetry, trim, millwork, and finished components carefully to prevent damage
- Ensure required tools and materials are available for assigned work
- Maintain an organized work area and keep materials protected on site
6. Safety & Work Environment
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Comply with site-specific safety requirements
- Use required personal protective equipment
- Follow safe lifting, handling, and tool-use practices
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly
7. Communication & Teamwork
- Follow clear direction from Site Foremen, Project Coordinators, and supervisors
- Collaborate effectively with crew members and other trades
- Communicate questions, concerns, or installation challenges in a timely manner
- Maintain professional and respectful communication on customer and construction sites
- Support a positive and team-oriented work environment
8. Other Duties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and handling materials when required
- Support other carpentry or installation activities as assigned
- Assist in other areas of construction operations when required
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in finish carpentry,
cabinet installation, trim installation, millwork, or a similar role
- Experience working in residential construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans
- Proficiency with carpentry hand tools and power tools
- Strong knowledge of materials and installation methods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and committed to meeting project deadlines and expectations
- Positive and professional attitude
- Own vehicle and set of personal tools required for the position
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
- Regular lifting, carrying, and positioning of cabinetry, trim, and construction materials
- Repetitive use of hand and power tools
- Ability to work in varying positions and confined areas as required by installation work
- Physical ability to perform the demands of residential carpentry work
Working Conditions
- Work performed primarily on residential construction sites
- Exposure to construction materials, tools, equipment, dust, and noise
- Work may be performed in finished, partially finished, or active construction environments
- Travel to various job sites is required
- Use of required personal protective equipment
- Work conditions may vary depending on project stage and site conditions
Pay: From $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 44.0 per week
