Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our Edmonton accounting team. This hands-on role supports payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, expense processing and month-end accounting across multiple related companies.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of recurring accounting responsibilities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Payroll
Assist bi-weekly time capture/payroll, vacation tracking and maintain supporting records
Process accounts payable, vendor payments and employee expenses
Record customer invoices, payments and credit adjustments
Reconcile bank and credit-cards
Manage corporate credit-card transactions and supporting receipts
Maintain expense system and follow up on missing documentation
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals and other adjustments
Maintain prepaid expense and fixed-asset schedules
Calculate and record depreciation/amortization
Support month-end close and related reporting
Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation




Assist with accounting process improvements and ERP implementation
Complete ad hoc accounting projects and reports as required

Skills & Qualifications
4–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Robust working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Ceridian Dayforce/Powerpay
Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations and month-end accounting
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Hands-on payroll experience
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Experience with Dext an asset
ERP implementation or system-conversion experience is an asset
Experience with Odoo is an asset
Robust attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to investigate and resolve issues independently
Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping or business administration is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
