At Whitson Construction, we take on complex industrial and infrastructure projects that require focus, responsibility, and a strong commitment to safety. We’re looking for a Confined Space Monitor/Attendant who can remain alert, communicate clearly, and help protect workers completing confined space and underground work.

Project Types::

- Industrial facilities and plant sites
- Underground storm, sewer, and drainage infrastructure
- Commercial and light industrial construction

Duties::

- Remain stationed at the confined space entrance while workers are inside
- Maintain communication with workers in the confined space
- Track workers entering and exiting the space
- Monitor atmospheric conditions and record readings
- Watch for changing hazards and unsafe conditions
- Prevent unauthorized workers or members of the public from entering
- Confirm required permits, entry logs, and emergency plans are available
- Direct workers to evacuate when an alarm sounds or conditions become unsafe
- Summon emergency assistance when required
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area

Requirements::

- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused
- Reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently
- Ability to communicate clearly with workers and supervisors
- Ability to complete logs and safety documentation accurately
- Comfortable working near excavations, underground infrastructure, and heavy equipment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation




- Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test, including THC

Training::

- CSTS 2020
- WHMIS 2015
- Confined Space Entry and Monitor training
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid with CPR
- Assets: Fall Protection, Ground Disturbance, Gas Detection, and construction experience

Working Conditions::

- Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 hours a day
- Must be flexible to work overtime, travel, weekends, or holidays to accommodate business needs
- Outdoor work in all types of weather
- Extended periods of standing and remaining at the confined space entrance
- Work around excavations, underground infrastructure, noise, and heavy equipment
