Job Description
In collaboration with Physicians and the Primary Care Team, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to several communities. This includes: health promotion and protection, disease and injury prevention, provision of supportive, instructive, treatment and emergency services; collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals; conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects. The incumbent reports to the Director of Primary Care for the Region.

Experience
Experience in community needs assessment/development, health promotion
2 - 3 years experience as a Primary Care Nurse or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Three (3) years full time experience as a Registered Nurse
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)
Licenses
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
Basic Life Support Level C Certificate (BLS-C)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or other trauma assessment course desired
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge in community development
Ability to competently use computers and software applications
Works well as a team member & mentor, solid leadership & interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as a leader of a multidisciplinary team
Working knowledge in health promotion
Working knowledge of community needs assessment
Communication skills to provide/obtain verbal and/or written opinions/advice
