Job Summary

Atlas Sign & Awning is looking for a talented finance professional who is ready to take the next step in their career into a Controller position.

You don’t need to already be a Controller.

You may currently be a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Financial Analyst who has developed strong accounting fundamentals and is ready for greater responsibility, broader business exposure, and the chance to lead a finance function.

We’re looking for potential, capability and business curiosity — not simply a previous job title.

Responsibilities

- Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of Atlas while helping strengthen our financial reporting, controls and operational decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead month-end close and financial reporting.
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations and general ledger activities.
- Manage cash-flow reporting and forecasting.
- Develop annual budgets and ongoing forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to the CEO and leadership team.
- Monitor revenue,



gross margin, overhead and profitability.
- Strengthen project job costing and margin reporting.
- Analyze estimated versus actual labour, materials, subcontractor and installation costs.
- Monitor WIP, project billing, collections and project closeout.
- Identify cost overruns and margin erosion early.
- Develop practical financial dashboards and KPIs.
- Support inventory, purchasing and capital expenditure controls.
- Coordinate year-end requirements with external accountants and advisors.
- Continuously improve financial processes, systems and internal controls.

Experience

- We’re interested in meeting candidates who have built a strong accounting foundation and are ready for more.

Ideally, you bring:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- CPA designation or progress toward your CPA is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, month-end close, budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong Excel and financial systems capabilities.
- Experience with job costing or project accounting is highly desirable.
- Manufacturing, construction, trades, fabrication or project-based business experience is an asset.
- Ability to turn financial information into useful business insights.
- Strong attention to detail and financial discipline.




- Confidence working with operational leaders and project managers.
- A practical, hands-on approach to solving problems.

Most importantly, you are curious about how a business makes money. You’ll want to understand why one project performed well while another didn’t. You’ll ask questions about labour productivity, material costs, project margins, billing, cash flow and operational performance.
