Cook / Kitchen Staff
Location: 159 Osborne Street. Winnipeg, MB
Naru Sushi located in Osborne Village Winnipeg. We looking for a dedicated and reliable individual to join our kitchen team. We are looking for someone who maintains high food-quality standards, and able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
We are hiring for full-time positions. (around 30 - 36 hours per week)
Here at Naru sushi as a member of our kitchen team, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and prepping ingredients
- Preparing sauces, marinades, toppings, and other kitchen items
- Preparing and cooking menu items to Naru Sushi's quality standards
- Operating deep fryers, stovetops, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely
- Following recipes and proper cooking procedures to ensure consistency
- Monitoring cooking times, temperatures, portion sizes, and presentation
- Assisting with sushi-related kitchen preparation as required
- Maintaining proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Checking the quality of ingredients before use
- Maintaining clean and organized workstations throughout the shift
- Washing dishes
- Cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment, refrigerators, and storage areas
- Completing daily opening and closing kitchen duties
- Helping with inventory organization and notifying management when ingredients or supplies are running low
- Minimizing food waste and following proper portion-control procedures
- Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality
- Communicating clearly with servers, sushi chefs, and other kitchen team members
- Following all workplace health, safety, and food-safety requirements
Ideal Candidate we are looking for
- Have previous experience working in a restaurant or commercial kitchen
- Have experience with basic food preparation and cooking
- Be comfortable working with a deep fryer and stovetop
- Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Have good attention to detail and take pride in food quality
- Be reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Be able to follow recipes, instructions, and food-safety procedures
- Have good communication and teamwork skills
- Be comfortable standing for extended periods, lift heavy items and performing physical kitchen duties
- Be willing to learn and take direction
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward coworkers
Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is hardworking, reliable, and eager to learn. Full-time or Part time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour, negotiated depending on experience
