Most job posts ask an art director to "elevate the brand." We're going to ask you to make salon owners stop mid-scroll, screenshot the ad, and send it to the group chat. Slightly higher bar. Much more fun.
Vish is the color management platform professional salons run their business on. We take the color room, usually a salon's biggest money leak, and turn it into the most profitable corner of the shop. The brand already has a mouth on it: a real voice, a real point of view, the kind of work other companies quietly screenshot for "inspiration." What we're missing is the person who owns how all of it looks, and who actually sits down and builds it.
The Mission Own the look of Vish end to end, and be the one who makes it, not just the one who calls it. You'll turn strategy and story into work that's unmistakably ours, everywhere a salon owner might run into us. Most days you're in the file designing, and that's exactly how we want it.
What you'll be doing
Own the whole visual world of Vish by setting the art direction and then designing the work yourself: ads, social, web, decks, email, events, print, the lot
Keep us unmistakable by building and guarding a visual system sharp enough to move quick without ever looking like we rushed
Make the brand look as good as it performs by art directing photo and video shoots alongside our videographer, from concept to final frame
Move salon owners, not just award juries by turning positioning into visuals that actually sell, then proving it and doing it again
Raise the ceiling by putting AI tools to work on concepts that used to be too slow, too costly or too ambitious to pull off
Set the pace by shipping sharp work this week instead of flawless work three revisions from now
Grow the craft around you by guiding and levelling up the designers who join underneath you as the team scales
You're probably our person if
You've got roughly five or more years designing and art directing, ideally some of it agency-side or in-house somewhere fast and brand-led
You're a maker and a director, in that order. This is a hands-on role, your graphic design chops are genuinely excellent, and you'd be bored stiff in a job where you only point and approve
Your portfolio has a point of view, not just a pile of assets. Show us brands you shaped and work you're a little smug about
You live in Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and you're right at home in Figma
You can art direct a shoot, a campaign and a landing page and make all three feel like the same brand
You're endlessly curious about what makes culture move: design, fashion, beauty, film, pop culture, tech, the whole internet, and you feed it all back into the work
You've already got AI doing your grunt work while you take the credit
Hand you a vague brief and a tight deadline and you come back with something nobody asked for and everybody wants
You'll know you're killing it when
People screenshot Vish work and can't quite explain why they saved it
The brand looks like one confident thing everywhere it shows up, no matter who made the latest piece
Ambitious ideas get greenlit because your track record earns the benefit of the doubt
Work goes from blank page to live without anyone hovering over your shoulder
The fine print, minus the boredom Full-time, based in Toronto. Real salary, real benefits, and something rarer than both: the chance to own the look of a brand while the paint's still wet, instead of babysitting one that dried years ago. And if you're an agency art director quietly tired of spreading yourself thin across a dozen clients who half-listen, this is the opposite. One brand. Yours. All in.
