POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager, Supports and Services, and in collaboration with the Specialized Support Worker of Employment Services, the Direct Support Professional provides flexible, person-centered residential and employment training supports to people supported by Community Living – North Frontenac (CL-NF). The incumbent supports individuals to achieve personal outcomes, develop skills, exercise choice and self-determination, and participate fully in meaningful and valued activities within their home, employment, education and community.

The incumbent facilitates the development of pre-employment and employment-related skills through community-based opportunities and the Board of Directors’ Treasure Trunk as a training venue. Supports are responsive to everyone’s abilities, goals, preferences and needs, while promoting independence, dignity, privacy, safety, inclusion and overall well-being.

The position works collaboratively with individuals, families, friends, employers, community partners, volunteers, and professional supports to ensure coordinated, respectful and person-centered service delivery.

Skills and Qualifications

- Experience in caregiving, home care, or support settings is preferred, with knowledge of developmental services is considered an asset.




- Experience supporting individuals with employment goals, including developing workplace skills, promoting independence, and assisting people to participate successfully in meaningful employment.
- Ability to provide individualized employment support, including job coaching, skill development, task training, and support with workplace routines.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with people supported, families, employers, healthcare professionals, and other members of the support team.
- Ability to promote dignity, choice, independence, and person-centered outcomes in both home and employment settings.
- Strong attention to detail when supporting medication administration, documentation, health and safety requirements, and established care protocols.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changing needs, risks, and behaviours while maintaining a calm and supportive approach.
