About FDX:

FDX is the leading non-profit technical standards body for Open Finance in North America. Our members build and maintain a common, interoperable, royalty-free standard for user-permissioned financial data sharing that enables thousands of businesses to replace less secure and reliable access methods with standardized, interoperable APIs, enabling millions of consumers and businesses to more easily access & use their financial data. FDX’s members include roughly 200 organizations spanning banks, credit unions, fintechs, data aggregators, technology service providers, consumer advocates, and others.

FDX has operated in Canada for many years, with broad participation among Canadian firms.

The role:

Canada's consumer-driven banking framework is moving from legislation to implementation, and FDX is positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting implementation.

We are looking for a strategic leader to join the team and drive forward FDX's work in Canada. Reporting to the CEO, this person will be accountable for delivering technical standards that support both industry needs and policy requirements while guiding FDX’s growth and sustainable success in Canada. This person will work closely with FDX members and FDX staff, including FDX’s member experience director for Canada, FDX’s general counsel, and the FDX Product team.

Responsibilities include:

- Government collaboration: Work with senior counterparts at the Bank of Canada and the Department of Finance to understand policy requirements, educate on technical matters and standards work underway, and deliver implementable standards that meet government requirements. Prepare materials, drive conversations, execute on follow-ups, navigate discussions with strong judgment, and represent FDX as a neutral technical authority, working with FDX members all along the way.
- Consensus building: Convene FDX Canada members to address open questions, navigate disagreements, analyze options, and guide the process toward consensus. Execute on FDX’s existing standard-setting processes, while strategically evolving our ways of working to ensure fairness, transparency, and effective delivery. At every step,



build trust with diverse stakeholders and broaden industry understanding of how implementers can benefit from FDX’s consensus standards.
- Business leadership in Canada: Guide the work FDX takes on in Canada and shape our strategy for how best to deliver for the Canadian ecosystem. Take accountability for key initiatives to expand FDX presence and impact in Canada. Identify new opportunities, balance tradeoffs and constraints, and work closely with FDX’s governing bodies and senior staff to help FDX be successful in delivering on FDX’s mission as a constantly evolving global standards body.
- Standards leadership: Build and drive the to adapt FDX standards for current and emerging Canadian needs, working closely with FDX members and within FDX’s standard-setting process. This includes work spanning technical domains including consent, data schemas, security, UX, write access, and conformance testing. This will require understanding and balancing the perspectives of business and technical leaders at banks, fintechs, credit unions, technology service providers, data aggregators, and other stakeholders in supporting implementation.
- Program leadership: Maintain an integrated roadmap across Canadian standards, regulatory dependencies, conformance activities and ecosystem readiness. Align Canadian initiatives within the organization’s broader roadmap, working across the entire FDX org. Establish clear priorities, milestones, owners and dependencies, and proactively identify issues that could affect delivery.
- Governance & decision-making: Work effectively within FDX’s member-led governance model, developing transparent recommendations, surfacing trade-offs and bringing issues to appropriate working groups & governing bodies for decision. Create clarity around decisions, ownership, & follow-through.

Qualifications

- Experience: A senior leader with 3 or more years working in “Open Finance”,



and ten or more years overall working in financial services, payments or fintech.
- Technical fluency: Sufficient depth in APIs, authentication, consent and security to be credible in helping shepherd detailed conversations with policymakers, product leaders, and engineers/architects; ability to translate technical issues for multiple audiences
- Canadian context: Direct experience working with Canadian financial services industry
- Stakeholder engagement: Ability to lead conversations with senior leaders at diverse institutions (including banks, fintechs) and regulatory bodies while building consensus and trust
- Execution: A track record of delivering complex programs while effectively managing timelines, resources, risks and dependencies
- Communication: Exceptional writing; ability to listen well and synthesize clearly
- Entrepreneurial spirit: Willingness and eagerness to roll up sleeves, solve problems independently, and navigate uncharted territory with judgment and energy
- Collaborative leadership: Low-ego, highly collaborative leader who builds trust quickly, contributes beyond their immediate remit when needed, and thrives in a small, mission-driven organization.
