Our client is a leading commercial design-build firm specializing in workplace strategy, interior design, and construction for enterprise clients. The business has built a robust reputation delivering complex office transformation projects through a fully integrated model and is entering its next phase of growth, targeting an increase from ~$12M to $18M+ in annual revenue over the next 12–24 months.
About the Role: Director of Business Development
Director of Business Development to own all aspects of commercial growth across the GTA with full ownership of a revenue engine for an established, highly regarded firm. You'll lead a growing business development team, manage a portfolio of complex, high-value opportunities, and drive overall strategy and revenue growth.
What You'll Do
Own the Deal Cycle: Take the reins once leads are qualified — lead discovery, guide clients through a consultative buying journey, coordinate internal stakeholders, and close design contracts worth $1M+
Build & Coach a Team: Lead and develop a business development team of 2 (growing to 3), holding them accountable to activity, pipeline metrics, and quality of client engagement.
Navigate Complexity: Manage 9–18 month enterprise sales cycles tied to corporate lease expirations and building launches, mapping influence across boards,
C-suite executives, brokers, and project stakeholders.
Drive Growth: Bring on 5 net-new projects per year, building toward a total of 15–17+ major projects annually.
Partner Internally Across the Business: Manage a seamless handoff from signed contract to the design and construction teams, and grow existing relationships within the Toronto commercial real estate and brokerage community.
External client/relationship Development: Nurture and expand existing broker/commercial real estate relationships (an existing resource owns these connections today; this leader guides and grows that channel rather than building it from zero).
Compensation
Competitive base salary + uncapped commission and $300K+ total earning potential year 1
Home office flexibility with periodic travel requirements
What We're Looking for
5+ years of sales experience in commercial construction, design-build, or architecture industry with exposure to office-build projects
Proven success managing long, consultative sales cycles involving c-suite stakeholders and $1M+ deals

Strong network within the GTA business community; commercial real estate relationships are an asset
