Position: Domestic Violence Court Caseworker
Employment Type: Full-time, temporary, in-scope position to March 31, 2027; May be the possibility of extension

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Domestic Violence Court Caseworker (DVCCW) provides direct support to individuals impacted by intimate partner violence within the Saskatoon Domestic Violence Court (DVC). Working collaboratively with court officials, police services, and community partners, the DVCCW supports victims through the court process, provides information and referrals, prepares risk assessments, and contributes to recommendations regarding no‑contact orders and related safety conditions. All duties are performed in alignment with the mission, values, and policies of Family Service Saskatoon.
The position reports to the DVCCW Supervisor, under the direction of the Director of Programs.
Key Duties:
· Provide victim services for the Saskatoon Domestic Violence Court, working closely with the Court, Crown Prosecutors, Probation Services, court officials, police services, and community agencies.
· Support victims of intimate partner violence through information sharing, court accompaniment, advocacy, and referrals to appropriate services.
· Monitor, assess, and respond to safety concerns identified by or affecting victims.
· Attend docket and trial courts and provide timely court updates to clients.
· Maintain accurate and detailed client records, including court updates and database entries.
· Prepare risk assessments and consult with court and community partners regarding recommendations for changes to release conditions or no‑contact orders.
· Act as a liaison between victims and police, prosecutors, the Domestic Violence Court, and community agencies.
· Comply with all legislative and agency reporting requirements, including child protection obligations.
· Participate in program development, public education, and prevention initiatives, including the development and delivery of workshops.
· Maintain effective working relationships with referral agencies and community partners to ensure coordinated client supports.
· Participate in agency and community meetings, in‑service training, and ongoing professional development.
· Complete required administrative duties, including case documentation, correspondence, and statistical reporting.
· Participate in clinical supervision and consult regularly with the DVCCW Supervisor and Manager.
· Assist with supervision of peers, students, or case consultation as required.
· Work outside regular business hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as required.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Human Justice or equivalent relevant degree.
· Three to five years of direct experience working in a court workplace or related relevant area.
· Demonstrated knowledge of intimate partner violence dynamics and experience working with victims of such violence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Understanding of human development, behaviour, and change
· Knowledge of communication,
conflict resolution, interviewing, assessment, and evaluation techniques
· Experience applying trauma‑ and violence‑informed approaches
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross‑cultural environments
· Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the customs, traditions, spiritual beliefs, and perspectives of Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations
· Awareness of addictions, mental health concerns, FASD, and their impact on individuals affected by intimate partner violence
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
· Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a demanding and time‑sensitive court environment
· Commitment to qualified ethics and standards of practice
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Ability to manage complex or challenging situations with professionalism
· Effective caseload management and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle
Final candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search. This position is in-scope, CUPE Local 5316.
Compensation: Pay range of $4,957.25 to $5,471.88 per month based on bachelor’s degree and related experience.
