Laurie’s Paws On The Go is preparing to expand into the Burlington and Oakville area, and we are looking for the right person to help us build this territory from the ground up.

IMPORTANT: This is a new service area. We are already receiving inquiries from Burlington/Oakville pet owners, but there is NOT an established full-time client schedule yet. Work will begin gradually as clients are added.

This is an independent contractor opportunity starting with dog walking and in-home pet care, with the potential to grow into the Burlington/Oakville Area Manager as the territory develops. The management position is NOT automatic. It will be earned by someone who consistently demonstrates exceptional reliability, communication, judgment, professionalism and the ability to follow company standards.

What We Do

Laurie’s Paws On The Go provides private, one-household-at-a-time pet care.

Services may include: Private dog walks In-home drop-in visits Vacation pet care Overnight pet sitting in clients’ homes Puppy and senior pet care Feeding and routine pet care Medication according to client instructions when appropriate Longer private walks/adventures Our Care Professionals work independently in clients’ homes, so trust, judgment and reliability are extremely important. Who We’re Looking For Applicants must: Be 18 years of age or older Live in or reasonably close to Burlington/Oakville Have a valid driver’s licence Have their own reliable vehicle Have a reliable smartphone with data Have experience caring for dogs and/or other pets Be confident around dogs of different breeds and sizes Have a good understanding of canine body language and safe handling Be comfortable with puppies and senior pets Be comfortable working independently in clients’ homes Be dependable and able to honour accepted bookings Communicate consistently and professionally Be comfortable asking questions rather than guessing when unsure Follow detailed pet-care and household instructions Be able to provide clear client updates and photos after visits Be comfortable using a scheduling/client-management app Be comfortable working outdoors year-round Maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients, their homes, access information and personal information Have excellent judgment and know when a situation needs to be escalated Be willing to provide references Be willing to complete a police record check Be willing to obtain appropriate independent pet-care insurance within the required timeframe Be willing to complete our full screening and onboarding process Availability during weekdays is a major asset. Evening, weekend and overnight availability is also highly valuable.

Pet First

Aid/CPR and previous experience in veterinary care, professional pet sitting, dog walking, kennels, grooming, rescue or dog training are robust assets.

Future Area Manager Opportunity

We are specifically looking for someone with the potential to eventually become our local Burlington/Oakville Area Manager. As this territory grows, the right person may take on additional responsibilities such as supporting local Care Professionals, helping maintain service standards, assisting with client relationships, handling local issues and helping the Burlington/Oakville territory operate smoothly. Company pricing, discounts, policies,



hiring/firing and major business decisions remain under company ownership/management. We are looking for someone who can solve reasonable day-to-day problems independently while also understanding when something needs to be brought to the owner.

Because our Care Professionals may have unsupervised access to clients’ pets and homes, applicants should expect a thorough screening process. This may include: Initial application screening Phone/video interview In-person interview Reference checks Police record check Verification of required documentation Practical dog-handling assessment Review of company policies and procedures Contractor agreement and onboarding About the Opportunity This is not an established full-time route. The Burlington/Oakville territory is being developed in response to increasing inquiries. The successful applicant should be comfortable starting with a smaller number of bookings and growing alongside the territory. We are particularly interested in finding someone who wants more than the occasional dog walk and is excited by the opportunity to eventually say: “I helped build the Burlington/Oakville territory.” Laurie’s Paws On The Go is professionally insured and provides private, personalized pet care with GPS-tracked walks, client updates and established operating systems. Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
