Role Description:

KinderJoy Daycare is seeking an Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) for an on-site, temporary position located in Port Moody, BC. Applicants with an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification are also welcome to apply.

The ECEA will support children’s daily routines, play, and learning experiences in a safe and nurturing setting. This role involves engaging children in age-appropriate, play-based activities, supporting their social and emotional development, and helping create a positive and inclusive environment.

Daily responsibilities include supervising and actively engaging with children during indoor and outdoor play, assisting with meals, transitions, rest periods, and other daily routines, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized space. The ECEA will also assist with preparing activities and materials, observe children’s interests and development, communicate clearly and professionally with families about their children’s daily experiences and needs, and follow daycare policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.

The successful candidate will be caring, dependable, attentive, organized, and confident in managing daily childcare responsibilities.



Strong English communication skills are required to communicate effectively with parents, understand their questions and concerns, and respond appropriately to each family’s needs.

Qualifications:

- Valid Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certification in British Columbia. Applicants with a valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong English speaking and comprehension skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with parents and children.
- Ability to understand parents’ questions, concerns, instructions, and individual needs and communicate relevant information effectively.
- Experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, educational, recreational, or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.
- Basic knowledge of child development and an understanding of play-based learning.
- Ability to support and participate in engaging, age-appropriate activities for children.
- Good organization skills and the ability to manage daily routines, materials, and responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for children.
- Understanding of positive child guidance and age-appropriate behaviour support strategies.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification and a clear background check as required.
- Familiarity with childcare health, safety, and licensing requirements is an asset.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and actively engage with children in indoor and outdoor settings throughout the day.
