We are looking for a versatile, people-oriented Technical Applications Specialist to join our growing Applications & Technology team. This team acts as the “technical glue” in our company and focuses on meeting customer needs and opportunities with our electro-optical camera products. This role covers a wide range of responsibilities including technical communication with customers, international travel for product service and commissioning, and technical input throughout product development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with our Product Development team, international customers, and our Sales team to:
address specialized customer requests and technical inquiries,
support new product development initiatives,
provide creative technical solutions throughout all stages of customer engagement
Travel to international sites for technical demonstrations, product support, and trade shows
Leverage customer feedback and technical observations to initiate improvements to our products (e.g., features, maintainability, design), documentation (e.g., manuals, technical drawings), and processes (e.g., QA, calibration, tuning)
Provide technical assistance and training to our Technical Service and Sales teams to help them effectively engage with global customers
Research, develop, evaluate, and document new subcomponents, sensors, tools, features, and peripherals
Test camera systems across various performance domains and report on results (e.g., stabilization, target detection, environmental robustness, thermal camera quality, etc.)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education in a technical field, such as: Diploma of Technology in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Robotics, Manufacturing, Computer Systems, IT, Software, or a related field
Proven leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively or independently on value-adding projects
People-oriented personality and a passion for helping others succeed
Range of technical competency (e.g., computer systems, sensors, motors, software, etc.)
Strong technical communication and reporting (spoken and written)
Ability to bring creativity and positivity to on-the-fly problem-solving
Ability to distill and present complex information in a clear and concise manner
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to excel in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and tasks
ADDITIONAL BENEFICIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Familiarity with command line interfaces, network interfaces, and programming languages
Experience with electro-optical (EO) systems such as cameras, lasers, and thermal imagers
Experience with engineering standards (MIL-STD, IEC, etc.)
Experience in client-focused or customer-service roles
Additional spoken and/or written languages
SALARY RANGE $55,000 to $80,000 + advantages
