Bragg Creek Education Services Association (BCESA) is looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Educational Assistant to join our Early Intervention team at an outdoor-based childcare program in Diamond Valley, Alberta.

This position is ideal for someone who loves being outdoors, enjoys working with young children, and has experience supporting children with complex or diverse needs. The successful candidate will work alongside childcare staff and BCESA’s multidisciplinary team to support children in an inclusive, play-based environment.

About the Position

As an Educational Assistant, you will provide classroom-based support for children receiving Early Intervention services through BCESA. You will help children participate successfully in their daily routines, play, learning activities, and outdoor experiences while working toward their Individualized Program Plan (IPP) goals.

Because this is an outdoor-focused program, candidates must be comfortable working outside in a variety of weather conditions and enjoy active, hands-on learning with children.

Responsibilities

- Support preschool-aged children with complex and diverse developmental needs.
- Implement strategies and work toward individualized IPP goals throughout the child's regular day.
- Work collaboratively with BCESA’s multidisciplinary team, which may include Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Strategists, Education Coordinators, and other professionals.
- Follow recommendations and programming strategies provided by the child’s therapy and educational team.
- Observe and document children’s progress, strengths, successes, and areas requiring additional support.
- Encourage independence, communication, social development, emotional regulation, and participation in daily routines.




- Work collaboratively and professionally with childcare educators and site staff.
- Participate in outdoor activities, exploration, play, and programming with the children.
- Attend BCESA training and professional development days.

Qualifications We are looking for someone who:

- Has previous experience working with children; experience supporting children with complex needs, developmental delays, disabilities, or behavioural needs is strongly preferred.
- Genuinely enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable spending a significant portion of the workday outside.
- Is patient, positive, flexible, and comfortable supporting children with varying levels of need.
- Can work independently while also being an active member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Is reliable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with educators and team members.
- Is willing to learn and implement strategies recommended by therapists and Education Coordinators.
- Has Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant, Child and Youth Care, Disability Studies, or related education/experience considered an asset.
- Is able to provide a current Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.

About BCESA Bragg Creek Education Services Association provides Early Intervention and educational supports to young children in preschools and childcare programs throughout Southern Alberta. Our Educational Assistants work directly within community programs while being supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
