About the Programs

LEARNINGO provides inclusive education, recreation, leisure, and community programs for children, youth, and young adults. Our programs run Monday to Friday and focus on creating opportunities for participants to have fun, build connections, explore interests, develop skills, and participate in their community.

Our programming includes our daytime Co-School program, as well as afternoon recreation, leisure, and community programs. Programs take place at Sackville Sports Stadium, Captain William Spry Community Centre, and Bedford Place Mall.

Position: Educational & Recreation Autism Support Worker

As an Educational & Recreation Autism Support Worker, you’ll provide direct, individualized support while helping participants engage in educational and recreational activities, build relationships, develop skills, and increase independence. We’re looking for enthusiastic, compassionate individuals who enjoy working with people and want to make a positive impact in an inclusive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide individualized support to promote safety, participation, learning, and inclusion.
- Support participants in both daytime educational programming and afternoon recreation, leisure, and community programming.
- Engage participants in activities, outings, community experiences, and learning opportunities.
- Support participants in exploring interests, building relationships, developing skills, and increasing independence.
- Foster a positive, welcoming workplace where participants can socialize, learn, participate, and thrive.
- Collaborate with team members and assist with program setup and cleanup.
- Participate in swimming activities with participants (required)

Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with children, youth,



or young adults in a recreational, educational, community, or support setting.
- Experience supporting individuals with Autism and/or diverse support needs is an asset.
- Understanding of disability supports and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively; NVCI certification is an asset.
- Adaptability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to provide individualized support while working as part of a collaborative team.

This flexible, part-time position is ideal for students or professionals looking for approximately 15-25 hours per week, with set shifts and optional on-call opportunities. Shifts may include daytime Co-School programming and/or afternoon programs, depending on program needs and your availability.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

- Do you have direct experience in crisis management, including the use of strategies and practices to prevent, de-escalate, and safely respond to behavioural crises? Do you have NVCI certification?
