EMIS Administrator.

The Operational Sustainability unit plays a critical role ensuring all University owned buildings and systems are designed and operated to provide safe, reliable, and efficient spaces to conduct research and learning, in alignment with the institutional strategy Ahead of Tomorrow and climate action goals. A central component of this effort is the Energy Management Information System (EMIS), an integrated network of sensors, meters, servers, databases, software applications, and communication infrastructure that provides real time operational and building performance data. Facilities teams rely on this data to make informed decisions that affect daily operations and long term planning.

Description

The FD Operational Sustainability within the Facilities Development is currently seeking a Full-time Regular EMIS Administrator. The Operational Sustainability unit plays a critical role ensuring all University owned buildings and systems are designed and operated to provide safe, reliable, and efficient spaces to conduct research and learning, in alignment with the institutional strategy Ahead of Tomorrow and climate action goals. A central component of this effort is the Energy Management Information System (EMIS), an integrated network of sensors, meters, servers, databases, software applications, and communication infrastructure that provides real time operational and building performance data. Facilities teams rely on this data to make informed decisions that affect daily operations and long term planning.

Primary Purpose of the Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the system administrator for the University's Energy Management Information System (EMIS). This includes ensuring that all EMIS servers, databases, applications, and data analytics tools are operational, secure, accurate, and optimized for performance. The EMIS Administrator is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the analytics platform,



programming the integration of new data points, particularly metering, and developing system functionality so users can fully leverage the tool for operational and strategic decision making.

The EMIS Administrator also helps the BMS technicians as needed. The position works closely with BMS technicians, IT teams, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technological issues, improve system reliability, and expand the EMIS's capabilities. Key areas of focus include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of EMIS related hardware, software, networking components, and analytics tools.

In addition, the EMIS Specialist establishes technical standards, documentation, and procedures for the EMIS, ensuring consistent practices across internal staff and contractors. Through this work, the position plays a central role in supporting energy efficiency, operational excellence, and the University' s broader sustainability objectives.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):

Technical Work (80%)

- Make the Skyspark integration an accurate representation of the current EMIS, sort and tag relevant points using the Haystack standard, maintain the database. Add/remove data points as needed.
- Program views in Skyspark that enable the campus community to report meaningful information and operate buildings efficiently.
- Perform basic maintenance of SQL databases.
- Work with technical support to resolve issues arising with the various EMIS components including lighting controls, metering enterprise system, and various other building technologies.
- Work with the Data Analyst and BMS technicians to ensure metering data in Skyspark is complete and accurate.
- Ensure all servers and software parts of the EMIS are accessible, up to date, and stable.
- Assist BMS technologists with troubleshooting networking, server, software issues and communicating with IT to achieve an optimal network deployment (quick, safe, reliable).
- Assist BMS technologists with system maintenance tasks as required.
