The Evening Security team member is responsible for supporting the safety, security, and orderly operation of RED Mountain Resort during evening and after-hours periods. This position provides a visible resort presence, completes scheduled security checks, secures designated parking lots and resort areas, and assists with evening camping check-in and payment collection.
The position requires an individual who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, communicate professionally with guests, and appropriately respond to or escalate security and operational concerns.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Evening Security & Resort Lock-Up
- Complete scheduled security checks of designated resort buildings, parking areas, and other assigned locations.
- Secure designated parking lots, gates, buildings, and access points according to established closing procedures.
- Confirm designated public areas have been appropriately cleared and secured at the end of operating hours.
- Monitor resort property for unauthorized access, suspicious activity, property damage, safety hazards, or other concerns.
- Check doors, gates, windows, and other designated access points as required.
- Maintain awareness of vehicles and individuals remaining on resort property after operating hours.
- Follow established procedures for responding to alarms, incidents, or after-hours concerns.
- Contact the appropriate manager, emergency service, or other designated resource when a situation requires escalation.
- Complete required security logs and document incidents or unusual activity.
- Patrol the premises on slope for any potential snowmobiles, tobogganing, skinning up on skies, and walkers that may impede the snow grooming. This is to ensure the safety of all guests and the staff at Red.
- Maintain walkways as needed, shoveling entrance ways, sanding sidewalks, sanding roads.
- Remove all barriers and delineators in the parking lot if anticipating snowfall for snow removal
- Connect with the RCMP if required.
Camping & Parking
- Assist arriving campers with evening check-in and provide direction to designated camping areas.
- Confirm camping registrations where applicable and collect payment from guests requiring onsite payment.
- Accurately process and document camping payments in accordance with RED procedures.
- Communicate camping expectations, parking requirements, quiet hours, and other applicable resort rules.
- Monitor camping and parking areas for compliance with established rules.
- Ensure roadways, emergency access routes, gates, and other designated areas remain clear.
- Professionally address minor camping or parking concerns and escalate significant issues when required.
- Complete an end-of-shift reconciliation or handover of camping payments and records as required.
GUEST SERVICE
- Provide a professional and approachable evening presence for guests and campers.
- Provide basic resort information and directions when required.
- Communicate resort rules and expectations clearly, respectfully, and consistently.
- Respond appropriately to guest concerns while recognizing when an issue should be referred to a supervisor or emergency service.
- Maintain a calm and professional approach when dealing with challenging situations.
SAFETY & INCIDENT RESPONSE
- Follow RED Mountain Resort's established safety, security, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures.
- Identify and report hazards, property damage, suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or other concerns.
- Do not place yourself at unnecessary risk when responding to confrontational, suspicious, or potentially dangerous situations.
- Contact appropriate emergency services when circumstances require immediate police, fire, or medical assistance.
- Maintain reliable communication through the designated radio, phone, or other communication system throughout the shift.
- Complete clear and accurate documentation of incidents requiring follow-up.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Strong judgment and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Professional and confident communication skills.
- Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during unexpected or challenging situations.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently during evening hours.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established closing and security procedures.
- Comfortable handling and processing guest payments and maintaining accurate records.
- Basic computer or point-of-sale skills where required.
- Previous security, resort operations, hospitality, customer service, or similar experience is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence may be required depending on operational responsibilities.
PHYSICAL & WORKING REQUIREMENTS
The Evening Security position involves working throughout resort property and may include both indoor and outdoor duties. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Walk and stand for extended periods.
- Work independently during evening and nighttime hours.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold temperatures, and limited-light conditions.
- Safely navigate parking lots, stairs, uneven terrain, snow, and icy surfaces.
- Open, close, and secure gates and other access points.
- Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

- Qualified and respectful interactions with guests, employees, and members of the public.
- Reliable communication and appropriate escalation of incidents or concerns.
