We are looking for Experienced, Addiction Counsellors to be part of a special kind of Recovery Centre!

Programs support the mind, body, and spirit by integrating traditional healing practices, the 12 Steps, and evidence-based counselling. Role Description The Experienced Addictions Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based in Lumby, BC. The counsellor provides individual and group counselling to clients experiencing substance use and related concerns, using evidence-based and culturally informed approaches. Day-to-day responsibilities include completing intake assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and participating in case conferences.
The counsellor facilitates educational and therapeutic groups, supports family involvement where appropriate,
and collaborates with community resources to support continuity of care. This role also contributes to program development, upholds CARF standards, and helps foster a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed treatment environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in addictions counselling, including assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of individual and group therapy.
- Strong skills in trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally responsive practice, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including communication, conflict resolution, and professional boundaries.
- Competence in clinical documentation, case management, and use of electronic health records or related systems.
- Relevant post-secondary education in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field; registration or certification with an appropriate professional body is an asset.
- Experience in addiction treatment settings, residential or community-based programs, and familiarity with 12 Step and holistic approaches.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize client needs and maintain caseload responsibilities.
- Commitment to ongoing career development, ethical practice, and adherence to CARF and regulatory standards.
