Mission Statement The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.Program Support Facilitate and/or coordinate Family Care Centre programs as needed including but not limited to: Cooking, sewing, language, family, VBS, day camp, Pathways of Hope etc.
Have knowledge of Community Supports.
Actively promote all Kitchener Community and amily Care Centre programs.
Assist with the annual Share the Warmth program.Christmas Kettle Fundraising Coordinate the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign from October - December with support from Director and Executive Directors.
Oversee several Christmas Kettle locations.
Assist with recruiting and onboarding support staff and volunteers.
Supervise, support and assign staff and/or volunteers throughout the campaign.
Client Management Greet clients and answer phones as required Conduct initial intake applications and screen clients for assistance including food, clothing and household needs.
Keep EDS van stocked with supplies Maintain records* On occasion,
be available to help support Sunday meal programReporting Maintain reporting systems including Link2Feed Ontario, referral sheets and appointment books.
Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate statistical records Retain reports and statistics for Family Care Centre programs.CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:Governance Boards and Councils: NoneInternal: Management, coworkers, volunteers, clientsExternal: General Public, Community partnersMANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
This position reports directly to the Family Care Centre Director, or Designate* Provide support, assistance, and demonstrate work methods to new staff and volunteers* The incumbent may be responsible to provide supervision and direction for volunteers each day and temporary seasonal kettle staff.
May be responsible for up to 40 volunteers involved in programsFINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: May receive and process community donations, food deliveries and assist with overall Family Care Centre operations.
May pick up Kettles during Seasonal CampaignWORKING CONDITIONS: This is a permanent full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week.
Some evening and week-end work may be required.
Working setting is typically at the Family Care Centre in generally agreeable conditions.
May include occasional travel with the EDS van for the EDS food distribution location in downtown Kitchener on occasionThe above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completion of a Community College Certificate in social services, Community Services, or equivalent is preferred.
Current Safe Food Handling and valid First Aid & CPR is required or willingness to obtain.
Mental Health First Aid is recommended.
Experience and Knowledge Requirements: Minimum one (1) year of prior related experience in a variety of social service programs.
Good computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of community-based resources, government and social service agencies.
Lead by example, demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by the Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
