Department Information

The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs works to provide overall management and direction to the Executive branch of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The Department is responsible for: coordinating and supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and actions in support of cross-government goals The Department is responsible for ensuring mutually respectful intergovernmental relations between the territorial government and Aboriginal, provincial, territorial and national and international governments are maintained; along with negotiating and implementing land, resources And self-government agreements that address Aboriginal rights in the Northwest Territories.

Job Information

As the Family Information Liaison Unit (FILU) and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Program Coordinator, you will play an key role in supporting families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, men and boys across the Northwest Territories. You will help families navigate complex systems, access information and supports, and contribute to meaningful work that advances healing, wellness, and the Calls for Justice. Working closely with government, Indigenous governments, community organizations, and families, you will help strengthen supports and improve outcomes for communities across the NWT.

Key Responsibilities:





- Provide trauma-informed support and case coordination for families seeking information and services related to missing and murdered Indigenous loved ones.
- Conduct research, gather information from multiple sources, and help families navigate government, justice, and support systems.
- Build and maintain partnerships with Indigenous governments, community organizations, and service providers across the NWT.
- Support implementation of the GNWT's response to the Calls for Justice through research, reporting, and program coordination.
- Develop presentations, briefing materials, and community outreach activities to raise awareness of FILU services and issues related to MMIWG.

Key Qualifications:

- A University degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Humanities, Law, or a related field, along with two years of relevant experience.

Equivalencies:

- A University/College Diploma in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Humanities, Law, or a related field, along with four years of relevant experience.
- All other equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Relevant experience may include relevant program coordination, case management, client advocacy, community outreach, policy or program development, research and analysis, or providing trauma-informed support services within government, Indigenous, community, social service, justice, or non-profit organizations.
