Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and ensuring proper adhesion for fireproofing materials
- Apply fireproofing coatings or spray-applied fire-resistant materials to structural elements such as steel beams, columns, and walls
- Use hand tools and equipment effectively to cut, shape, and install fireproofing materials with precision
- Read and interpret construction blueprints to determine application areas and specifications
- Perform caulking around joints and seams to enhance fire resistance and prevent leaks or gaps
- Maintain a clean work area by organizing tools, disposing of debris, and adhering to safety protocols
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met and document progress accordingly
Experience
- Prior construction experience with a focus on fireproofing or related trades preferred
- Skilled in using hand tools such as caulking guns, trowels, brushes, and spray equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately for precise application
- Knowledge of drywall installation or finishing is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to working at heights, handling chemicals, and operating power tools
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
