A well-established and respected full-service law firm in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Litigation Law Clerk to join its growing team.
Location: Ottawa, ON.
Job Type: Full-Time.
Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to litigation lawyers. Assist with the preparation, organization, and management of litigation files. Draft, format, and prepare pleadings, correspondence, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents.
Assist with discovery, examinations, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation. Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, limitation dates, and court schedules. Prepare and organize documents for court filings and proceedings.
Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other legal professionals as required. Conduct legal and procedural research as needed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical files.
Assist lawyers with case preparation and document production. Perform other litigation-related administrative and clerical duties as required.
Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience as a Litigation Law Clerk.
Strong understanding of Ontario litigation procedures and court processes. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Solid attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple files, priorities, and deadlines effectively. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management/document systems.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with lawyers and support staff. Professional, client-focused, and team-oriented approach.
Preferred Skills Experience supporting civil litigation matters. Familiarity with Ontario Superior Court procedures and filings.
Experience with discovery, examinations, motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
Bilingual
English/French skills are considered an asset.
