Location: Kanata, Ottawa, ON
Position: Part time, Ongoing
Start Date: Immediate — Saturday, September 19, 2026
Relieve-Me Home Support Services is seeking an experienced Child & Youth Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to a 10-year-old child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The child responds well to female workers.
The child is semi-nonverbal, has no significant behavioural concerns, and enjoys being outdoors and participating in active activities. The primary focus of support will be social skills development, communication, independence, and community participation.
Schedule
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., as scheduled
1-2 weekdays per week: after-school hourscas needed by the family The successful candidate must also be available for at least one weekday after-school shift.
Occasional Sunday availability is also preferred.
This is an ongoing position and requires someone who can commit to a consistent schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support in the home and community
- Participate in outdoor and active recreational activities
- Support social skills and communication development
- Encourage independence and age-appropriate life skills
- Support meaningful community participation
- Engage the child in structured, age-appropriate activities
- Follow the child's support plan and agency guidelines
- Complete required visit documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Female worker preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with children and/or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience supporting children with ASD
- Experience working with minimally or semi-nonverbal children is an asset
- Current CPR & First Aid
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- Current CPI, NVCI, PMT, or other recognized crisis prevention/safety training
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Comfortable with outdoor activities and an active support environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and follow established support plans

The successful candidate should enjoy outdoor activities and be able to build a positive relationship while intentionally supporting social skills, communication, independence, and participation.
