Join the Assembly of First Nations in Ottawa as its Justice Sector Director. This full-time position focuses on advancing First Nations legal traditions and community safety initiatives. In this strategic role, you will provide robust leadership and support to enhance First Nations justice systems.
The Director works collaboratively with various stakeholders and leads policy development to address systemic challenges while advocating for First Nations’ rights and well-being. Key Responsibilities:
- Revitalize First Nations justice systems and traditions
- Create and implement strategies for justice issues
- Guide policy development promoting community safety
- Represent AFN in key discussions with partners
- Lead and develop a dedicated team
Requirements:
- Degree in Law, Indigenous Studies, or similar
- At least 7 years of experience in First Nations affairs
- Deep understanding of relevant justice issues
- Exceptional writing and negotiating capabilities
- English proficiency and knowledge of Indigenous languages is an advantage
Contribute to meaningful change in the justice landscape for First Nations with AFN.
