Position Summary The Centre for Workforce Development is seeking a is seeking a collaborative and client-focused Learning Design Consultant. In this role, you will partner with employers, industry experts, Program Chairs, and subject matter experts to create engaging, competency-based learning solutions that address emerging workforce needs.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Learning Design Consultant is an integral member of the Centre for Workforce Development and plays a key role in supporting the College's commitment to delivering innovative, industry-responsive learning solutions. Working within a portfolio-based, service-oriented environment, you will collaborate with employers, Program Chairs, and subject matter experts to design high-quality curriculum and learning experiences that support workforce development and advance the College's strategic priorities of access, quality, and sustainability.

This role requires a highly organized and adaptable professional who can successfully manage multiple projects while providing exceptional client service. You will balance competing priorities, contribute to cross-functional initiatives, remain current with emerging trends in learning design and educational technology, and participate in research and other College initiatives that support continuous improvement and innovation.

What You'll Be Doing:

Partner with Clients to Design Workforce-Focused Learning: Using a consultative, client-service approach, you'll work closely with employers, industry experts, Program Chairs, and subject matter experts to understand workforce training needs and develop learning solutions that address identified skills gaps. You'll conduct needs assessments, develop competency-based learning outcomes aligned with industry standards,



and design modular, career-focused curriculum that supports adult learners.

You'll also create authentic assessments that reflect workplace practice, develop or curate accessible multimedia learning resources using plain language principles, and incorporate employer feedback throughout the curriculum design process to ensure learning experiences remain relevant, practical, and aligned with workforce expectations.

Develop Innovative and Engaging Learning Experiences: You'll design, build, and test high-quality learning experiences using the College's Learning Management System and a variety of digital learning technologies. This includes creating intuitive online learning environments, ensuring a positive learner experience, and integrating instructional technologies that enhance engagement and accessibility.

As emerging technologies continue to shape education, you'll actively explore and apply artificial intelligence tools to improve the efficiency of learning design, content development, and skills assessment while staying informed of evolving best practices within the field.

Manage Projects and Foster Collaboration: Success in this role requires exceptional organization and relationship management. You'll manage multiple curriculum development projects simultaneously, coordinating your work with project timelines while collaborating closely with subject matter experts, project teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality learning solutions on schedule.

You'll also contribute to departmental priorities by supporting operational, marketing, strategic, and budget planning activities as required, responding to evolving client needs, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Centre for Workforce Development to achieve shared goals.

Support Continuous Improvement and Innovation: As a member of the Centre for Workforce Development, you'll contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. You'll participate in research initiatives and College projects, actively seek and apply feedback to strengthen your work, and stay current with emerging trends, research, technologies, and best practices in instructional design, adult learning, workforce development, and educational technology.

Grounded in adult learning principles, you're proficient in designing and delivering digital learning experiences using Learning Management Systems and content development tools such as Articulate, H5P, and emerging artificial intelligence technologies. You're comfortable leveraging AI to enhance learning design, streamline content development, and support innovative approaches to skills assessment.

Highly organized and adaptable, you thrive in a collaborative, client-focused setting where managing multiple projects and building strong relationships are essential. Qualifications:

Minimum:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design
- 4-6 years of related experience
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in diploma/degree granting programs
- Experience with workforce skills development
- Working in corporate environments, developing workforce development programs
- Proven ability to develop competency-based, employer aligned training
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Intermediate -advanced skills in LMS, MS Office Suite

Preferred:

- Master’s Degree
- Previous consulting experience preferred
- Preference to experience in a post-secondary institution
