Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven skilled to join our team in the role of Manager, Portfolio Strategy & Investment Risk.
Job Overview The OPG Fund Management Group oversees CAD$53 billion in assets for the OPG Pension Fund and OPG Nuclear Funds. We are looking for an investment professional to join our team as a Manager, Portfolio Strategy and Investment Risk.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Manager will work closely with other members of the Portfolio Strategy and Investment Risk team in managing risks and influencing strategy within OPG’s investment portfolios, and at a total portfolio level. Collaboration with OPG’s investment teams regarding risk identification, modelling and portfolio reporting will be key aspects of the role. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced technical and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities
- Monitor Portfolio Risk, Liquidity & Cash Flows - Conduct ongoing monitoring of portfolio risk exposures, liquidity positions, cash flows, and key metrics, while providing dashboards and insights to support decision-making.
- Support Rebalancing & Cash Management Activities - Coordinate and communicate portfolio rebalancing actions and cash management transactions to maintain target positioning and funding requirements.
- Analyze Risk & Liquidity Drivers and Recommend Actions - Assess changes in portfolio risk and liquidity conditions, identify root causes and potential impacts, and recommend practical mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of portfolio and risk data - Assist with verification, reconciliation, and quality control of risk, liquidity, and other portfolio-related data
- Generate portfolio insights through quantitative and scenario analysis - Apply quantitative methods to generate insights on portfolio risk, liquidity, and other characteristics, and design and implement new scenario analysis
- Develop risk,
liquidity, and portfolio management tools - Enhance team capabilities through use of databases, coding, APIs, PowerBI, AI tools, third-party systems, and emerging technologies where appropriate
- Support governance, policy, research, and stakeholder materials - Prepare presentations and materials for stakeholders and governance committees, contribute to reviews of investment and risk policies, and support research across markets, asset classes, strategies, managers, governance practices and emerging risk topics
- Manage relationships and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders - Liaise with external service and data providers, manage relationships and contracts, and foster constructive collaboration within FMG and with external partners
Qualifications
- 4-year undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related field; Masters degree or other advanced degree
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Financial Analyst Level 3 Candidate
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in portfolio, investment or risk management, ideally on the ‘buy side’. Cross asset class knowledge is desirable
- Thorough experience with advanced use of MSCI BarraOne; knowledge of other major risk management systems considered an asset
- Knowledge of portfolio construction and risk management principles and best practices, across a variety of portfolio strategies
- Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills required to exchange complex information, engage with and influence senior level investment managers
- Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, creative problem-solving skills
- Experience working with large and complex datasets, APIs, databases, and automated workflows
- Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, Power BI, and/or other data analysis and visualization tools
- Familiarity with the application of AI-enabled tools and solutions within investment management
- Strong project management skills; an ability to complete projects of differing scope and audience concurrently, on deadline
- Ability to prioritize and collaborate as needed to achieve objectives
- Quantitative and qualitative research skills; ability to distill findings down to relevant, impactful takeaways and present effectively to various stakeholders
- Significant experience with all Microsoft Office applications
