Audit/ Assurance Manager (FULLY REMOTE)

About the Position

This is a fully remote position with one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.

As a Manager, you will oversee and manage assignments for all types of assurance engagements. You will work across a broad range of industries on a variety of engagements, including mining, manufacturing, and emerging industries such as cannabis and psychedelics.

You will oversee entire engagements from planning through to completion.

Summary of Responsibilities

- Prepares or reviews planning documents, ensuring compliance with the Firm’s risk-based approach to engagements.
- Delegates sections of the file to staff members based on their knowledge, experience, and ongoing professional development needs.
- Ensures staff are properly supervised throughout the completion of each procedure, section, or file, and reviews the accuracy of work completed by junior team members.
- Supervises the training of staff and provides guidance and direction, as well as constructive feedback on their working papers.
- Reviews working paper files for each engagement completed by staff and ensure that all planned procedures are completed in accordance with the Firm’s policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all queries and outstanding points are resolved satisfactorily prior to review by the Director and/or Partner.
- Advises the Director and/or Partner of significant issues or engagement findings and provides recommendations for their resolution.
- Reviews and amends, as necessary, financial statements, notes, attached schedules, management letters, and other documents issued to clients.
- Mentors and coaches professional staff throughout the year and provides support and development to advance their careers.

Summary of Experience

- 6+ years of public accounting experience, with a focus on audit

Requirements:

- Completion of a university degree in Accounting.
- Canadian Chartered Skilled Accountant (CPA) designation.




- Thorough understanding of and experience working with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Experience leading, mentoring, and coaching a team.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Audit Manager in a public accounting firm.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with external clients.
- Strong file management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Caseware, Jazz-it, Taxprep, and Sage 50

Job Details

- Job Vacancy Status: New Vacancy
- Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; the role requires overtime as necessary to meet operational and professional requirements.
- Location: $105,000- $140,000
- Compensation placement will be based on depth of experience, demonstrated skill set, and alignment with the responsibilities of the role.
- Please note: this is a fully remote position. The successful candidate must reside and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
