JOB TITLE: Marketing, Impact & Research Coordinator

COMPANY: TAKE ACTION FILMS

WORK TYPE: Hybrid

JOB TYPE: Contract

ABOUT TAKE ACTION FILMS

TAKE ACTION FILMS is a agile production company dedicated to creating impactful, thought-provoking documentaries. We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change, spark conversation, and drive action. We are looking for a highly organized and passionate team member to help amplify our completed films, drive our social impact initiatives, and lay the groundwork for our upcoming projects.

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a versatile Marketing, Impact & Research Coordinator to bridge the gap between our completed films and our projects in development. In this hybrid role, you will champion our distribution and grassroots impact campaigns to ensure our films not only reach their widest possible audience but also inspire tangible change. Simultaneously, you will dive into the development phase of our upcoming documentaries by conducting deep-dive research, hunting down rare archival materials, and securing key interviews.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who understands the independent film landscape, has a background in community organizing or impact marketing, and possesses the journalistic tenacity required for documentary research.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing, Distribution & Impact Campaigns

- Impact Campaign Execution: Assist in designing and executing robust social impact campaigns. Identify, outreach, and build coalitions with aligned NGOs, community organizations, policymakers, and educational institutions.
- Action Materials: Co-create and distribute supplementary impact materials, including community discussion guides, educational toolkits,

and calls-to-action that empower audiences to engage with the film’s subject matter.
- Alternative Theatrical & Grassroots Screenings: Organize and manage logistics for community screening tours, panel discussions, and educational licensing.
- Digital & Core Marketing: Draft and schedule engaging content for social media channels, email newsletters, and the company website. Assist in creating press kits, trailers, and promotional stills.
- Data Tracking: Monitor and report on distribution metrics, audience engagement, and the qualitative/quantitative success of impact initiatives to optimize ongoing efforts.

Documentary Research, Archival & Booking

- Development Research: Conduct comprehensive background research on complex topics, historical events, and emerging stories for up-and-coming documentaries, producing detailed character briefs and story summaries.
- Archival Discovery: Spearhead the hunt for compelling historical footage, photographs, audio recordings, and documents across public archives (e.g., National Archives, Library of Congress), stock houses, news networks, and private collections.
- Clearance & Asset Tracking: Maintain a meticulous, organized database of all archival materials. Assist the production team in tracking fair use claims, negotiating licensing agreements, and securing legal clearances.

- Subject Identification & Booking: Identify compelling potential interview subjects and experts. Draft professional, persuasive outreach pitches to secure on-camera interviews and gain access to sensitive spaces.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage the interview schedule, liaise with subjects regarding locations and availability, and coordinate preliminary pre-interviews with the directorial team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in film production, impact production, grassroots organizing, journalism, or a related media field.
- Archival Savvy: Familiarity with archival research methodologies, public domain databases, and basic knowledge of copyright, fair use, and licensing workflows.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable pitching high-profile experts, sensitive subjects, or potential non-profit partners.
- Research Abilities: Strong investigative skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise summaries.
- Marketing & Impact: Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and community-building strategies.
- Organization: Highly organized with a meticulous eye for detail, especially when managing asset trackers and legal clearances. Capable of managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
- Passion: A genuine interest in documentaries, social justice, and the mission of TAKE ACTION FILMS.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Salary commensurate with experience
- The opportunity to work on meaningful projects that make a real-world impact.
- * Room for growth within an expanding production company.
