BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking individuals interested in the following position(s):

Competition Number: MFYDP926- Mentoring Facilitator- Youth Development & PRISM

Position(s) Available: One (1)

Status: Full-Time contract (37.5 hours per week)

Salary Range: $53 490 - $56 219 annually The key responsibilities of this position will include:

- Creating and fostering constructive, healthy and developmental relationships for youth in care, youth transitioning out of care and 2SLGBTQ+ youth through both 1-1 and group mentoring models using a combination of your own professional skills, as well as volunteer and natural mentors.
- Engaging youth, guardians and families in the mentoring program continuum through intake, assessment, goal setting and program enrollment processes.

- Determining the most appropriate mentoring opportunities based on young people’s strengths, needs and interests,



while supporting clients through waitlist and onboarding processes.
- Facilitating the development of safe, positive and meaningful mentoring relationships between young people and volunteers, natural and professional mentors.
- Conduct phone, virtual, in-person and home-visit interviews for youth and families
- Providing ongoing supervision, monitoring, coaching and support to participants (including both young people and volunteers) to ensure relationships remain constructive, impactful and aligned with agency and national standards.
- Develop collaborative relationships with Child and Family Services, FRNS, schools, community organizations and PRISM (Pride, Respect, Inclusion, Safety, Mentoring) partners.
- Promoting participant safety and well-being by delivering training, orientation and education related to healthy relationships, mentoring expectations, personal safety and program guidelines including enhanced training related to youth in care, youth transitioning from care, vulnerable youth and 2SLGBTQ+ youth.
- Ensuring all participants understand their roles, responsibilities and available supports throughout their mentoring experience.
- Engaging volunteers in creating positive mentoring experiences either through 1-1 or group mentoring experiences drawing on their skills to deliver engaging sessions that help build relationships and strengthen connection.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with schools, Family Resource Networks,



community organizations and service providers to enhance supports available to young people and families.
- Connecting participants to relevant resources and services that strengthen outcomes and address emerging needs.
- Maintaining accurate participant records, case notes, program data and outcome reporting in accordance with agency, funder and national standards.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across programs to ensure coordinated service delivery and positive experiences for youth, families and volunteers.

The successful candidate will have:

- A degree or diploma with a focus on child and youth care, youth development, social work, gender and diversity studies and/or related areas is an asset.

- A minimum of 5 years’ combined experience in a role involved with vulnerable young people programming, case management, volunteer management and partnership development.
- An understanding of allyship for the 2SLGBTQ+ community is a requirement, and lived experience is an asset.
- The ability to work effectively with youth and have a solid understanding of youth in care issues.
- Experience working with volunteers and an understanding of volunteer processes.
- Prior experience working with indigenous communities, high risk youth, the youth justice system and youth services is an asset.
- Demonstrated good communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to exercise good judgement and sound decision making.
- Ability to work 2 evenings per week and 2 Saturdays per month.
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle.
